Categories of library users
Student answer (Band 6.0)
The pie chart illustrates the proportion of different categories of people ( full time undergraduate, full time postgraduate, part time postgraduate, distant learners and academic staffs ) who uses the library. While the table summarises the satisfaction level of the users on different aspects of the library like opening hours, helpfulness of the staff, availability of books and journals, and reliability of wifi connection. The units have been measured in terms of percentage in both the cases.
Overall, the pie chart summarises that full time undergraduate and postgraduate accounts to the significant proportion of people who uses the library followed by part time postgraduates. While academic staffs and distant learners ( all courses included) only accounts to a lower number.
Looking at the table,it can concluded that most people are satisfied with the helpfulness of the staffs and people are least satisfied with availability of journals.
Full time undergraduate accounts upto 44% of the total users followed by full time postgraduates at 25%. Part time postgraduates forms only 16% of the total users and the numbers are quite low for distant learners and academic staffs, being 8% and 7% respectively.
While looking at the percentage of people being satisfied with library facilities, it seems the highest is that of helpfulness of staff being 95% and least being availabity of journals which accounts to only 45%

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
You identify both visuals and give a relevant overview: undergraduates form the largest user group, while academic staff and distance learners are the smallest, and staff helpfulness receives the strongest satisfaction rating. The figures you report for user categories and the 95% and 45% satisfaction results are accurate. This meets the task well, but the overview is not fully developed: it does not highlight that opening hours also receive high satisfaction (65% very satisfied, with no dissatisfaction), or that journals have the highest dissatisfaction (20%). The table discussion focuses mainly on the very-satisfied figures and omits several useful comparisons, including the 50/40/10 split for books and the wi-fi results. More balanced coverage of the table would make the summary more complete and precise.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a clear overall arrangement: an introduction, an overview, and then details about the user categories and satisfaction results. This makes the two visuals easy to identify and gives the reader a basic progression. However, cohesion is sometimes mechanical, particularly through repeated openings such as “While looking at” and “Looking at the table.” The overview also uses a sentence fragment beginning “While academic staffs…,” and the final paragraph shifts from user proportions to satisfaction without developing the table comparisons. Use clearer links between the two sets of data and organise the table details into a more systematic comparison, for example by grouping the strongest ratings and the areas with greater dissatisfaction. This would improve progression and reduce repetition.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use an adequate range of task-related vocabulary, including “proportion,” “satisfaction level,” “reliability,” and “accounts for,” so the main information is generally clear. There are also attempts at more formal reporting language. However, some word choices and collocations are inaccurate or repetitive: “distant learners” is less suitable than “distance learners,” “academic staffs” should be “academic staff,” and “accounts to” is not the correct phrase. “Availability” is repeated several times, and “people” is used where “users” would be more precise. Spelling errors such as “availabity” and inconsistent forms such as “wifi” also reduce accuracy. Aim for precise, natural collocations and vary reporting verbs without sacrificing clarity.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including the contrast introduced by “While” and the participial phrase “being 8% and 7% respectively.” Meaning remains clear overall, but some grammatical errors recur. For example, “who uses the library” should agree with the plural “categories,” and “it can concluded” is missing “be.” The overview clause “While academic staffs… only accounts” is incomplete and also has subject–verb agreement problems. Other examples include “Full time undergraduate accounts” and “Part time postgraduates forms,” where the verb forms do not match the subjects. Check agreement, complete subordinate clauses, and use articles consistently. More accurate control of these patterns would strengthen the range you are already attempting.
