Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5
You identify the main user groups and report most of their percentages, and you include figures for four satisfaction categories. However, the largest user group is reported inaccurately: full-time undergraduates account for 44%, not 40%. The wi-fi row is also incomplete and misreported: 48% were very satisfied, 33% fairly satisfied, and 19% not satisfied, whereas your response gives 33% as very satisfied and omits the fairly satisfied figure. The response mainly lists data rather than selecting and comparing key features, and it lacks a clear overview of the main patterns, such as staff helpfulness receiving the strongest satisfaction and journals the weakest. The closing comment that the image is informative does not summarise the findings. Add an accurate overview and prioritise comparisons.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0
The response follows the two broad parts of the visual: user categories first, then satisfaction results. This gives the reader a basic sense of the information being covered. However, the ideas are presented as a sequence of short, repetitive statements, often introduced by “In this image” or “In this picture,” rather than grouped into clear paragraphs with a logical progression. The satisfaction figures would be easier to follow if each row were reported in a consistent structure and related through comparisons. The final sentence does not connect meaningfully to the data. Organise the response into an introduction, an overview, and focused detail paragraphs, and use linking language to show contrasts and rankings rather than repeating the same opening.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
Your vocabulary is sufficient to name the chart categories and communicate many of the figures, using terms such as “full time undergraduate,” “availability of journals,” and “reliability of wi-fi.” However, the range is basic and repetitive, with “image” and “picture” used repeatedly instead of more precise terms such as “chart,” “table,” or “survey results.” There are also spelling and word-form errors, including “satisfection” and “Helpfull,” and some category labels are not reproduced accurately, as in “Availability of book.” These errors are noticeable, though the intended meaning is generally recoverable. Build a small range of accurate reporting verbs and comparison phrases, and check spelling and the exact wording of labels before writing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
Most of the response uses short, simple sentence patterns, so there is little variety in grammatical structure. Some sentences are understandable, such as “The maximum percentage is 40% and full time undergraduate,” but this construction does not clearly express that the percentage belongs to the group. Other fragments, including “8% and distance learning (all courses)” and “In this picture is 16% and part-time postgraduate,” lack a complete, well-formed clause. Punctuation and sentence boundaries are also inconsistent, particularly in the list of satisfaction results. Practise complete sentences with accurate subject–verb structures, for example, “Full-time undergraduates made up 44% of users,” and use parallel clauses when reporting the three satisfaction levels.
