Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0
You cover both visuals and give a clear overview of the main contrasts: full-time undergraduates are the largest user group, academic staff the smallest, and staff helpfulness receives the strongest satisfaction rating. The figures you report for the user categories and the satisfaction ratings are accurate. You also make relevant comparisons, such as 95% for staff helpfulness versus 65% for opening hours. However, the overview says users are least satisfied with journals, while the table shows wi-fi has a slightly lower very-satisfied figure (48% versus 45% for journals); journals instead have the highest not-satisfied share, at 20%. The final discussion also omits the fairly satisfied and not satisfied results for several services. More precise comparisons across all three satisfaction levels would strengthen the report.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.0
The response is organised into a clear introduction, overview and two detail paragraphs, and the progression from user categories to satisfaction results is easy to follow. Linking phrases such as “Overall,” “In the pie chart,” and “The tabular data suggests” help signal the purpose of each section. The grouping of the postgraduate figures is also a useful way to summarise related data. Some connections could be more precise: “Apart from that” does not clearly express the relationship between the two visuals, and “while as” is used repeatedly where a simple contrast would be clearer. The final sentence ends abruptly, which weakens the sense of completion. Use more natural transitions and ensure the final paragraph forms a complete, balanced summary.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use an adequate range of task-related vocabulary, including “categories,” “percentage,” “satisfied,” and “availability,” and the meaning is generally clear. There are also attempts to vary wording, such as “illustrates,” “demonstrates,” and “depicts.” However, some choices are imprecise or unnatural for describing survey data: “the review of the users” would be better expressed as users’ satisfaction ratings, and “Postgraduate students covers 41%” does not clearly identify their share of library users. Spelling errors such as “helpfullness” and “os” also reduce accuracy, while “wifi services” is less precise than the table’s “reliability of wi-fi.” Aim for accurate collocations and check spelling, especially in key terms.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and more complex sentence forms, including the overview clause beginning “while” and the sentence explaining the postgraduate total. Most sentences remain understandable, but some grammatical errors affect accuracy. For example, “Postgraduate students covers 41%” has a subject–verb agreement problem, and “25% is used by full-time postgraduates” uses an unsuitable passive construction for a proportion of users. In “least satisfied by availability of journals and wifi services,” the sentence lacks a clear subject and article, and the final sentence is incomplete. There are also awkward clause patterns such as “while as.” Review agreement, articles and sentence completeness, and use active constructions to report what percentages represent.
