Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You cover both visuals and report the main figures accurately: undergraduates are the largest user group at 44%, while academic staff are the smallest at 7%; you also include all five satisfaction categories. The overview identifies the leading user group and the strongest satisfaction result, although “the very satisfied is helpfulness of staff” is unclear and should state that staff helpfulness received the highest very-satisfied rating, at 95%. Your account of the satisfaction figures is comprehensive, but it mostly lists values rather than drawing out comparisons—for example, that opening hours had no dissatisfied users, whereas journals had the highest dissatisfaction at 20%. A clearer overview of these contrasts and more precise descriptions of the chart categories would make the response more fully developed.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable overall structure: an introduction and overview are followed by a paragraph on user categories and one on satisfaction. This makes the two visuals easy to locate, and linking expressions such as “Moreover,” “However,” and “By contrast” show an effort to connect information. However, the repeated “while” and “by contrast” do not always express a clear relationship, and the long final paragraph becomes a sequence of figures with little grouping. The overview also combines the two visuals in a confusing sentence. Organise satisfaction results into meaningful comparisons—for instance, staff and opening hours versus books, journals, and wi-fi—and use clearer references to avoid repeating “library user satisfaction.”

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use relevant task vocabulary, including “full-time undergraduate,” “availability of journals,” and “reliability of wi-fi,” so the reader can identify most categories and measures. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate or unclear, such as “categories of library users,” “the highest categories,” and “is highly and very satisfied.” Repeated use of “by” to introduce percentages also makes the descriptions unnatural. Spelling errors—including “usesrs,” “studants,” “houser,” and “stisfied”—are noticeable and sometimes slow understanding. Aim for precise reporting phrases such as “accounted for,” “the largest group,” and “were very satisfied,” and check spelling and word forms carefully.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple statements and longer sentences with contrast clauses, and the reader can generally follow the figures. However, sentence structures are often faulty, particularly when reporting percentages: “full time undergraduate students by 44%” needs a complete verb phrase, such as “full-time undergraduates accounted for 44%.” There are also agreement and article problems in “the highest categories is,” and the opening sentence has a singular subject with the verb “illustrates” despite referring to two visuals. Several sentences run together, with inconsistent spacing after commas and unclear punctuation. Practise accurate reporting patterns and vary them with controlled complex sentences; for example, “Although 65% were very satisfied with opening hours, none were dissatisfied.”
