Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You identify both parts of the visual and report several relevant figures, including the 44% share for full-time undergraduates, 25% for full-time postgraduates, and satisfaction with opening hours and staff helpfulness. However, some categories are misidentified: the chart shows 16% part-time postgraduate users, not part-time undergraduates, and 44% are full-time undergraduates, not graduates. The overview is also unclear and does not bring out the main contrast that staff helpfulness has the highest very-satisfied rating, while journals receive the largest dissatisfied share. Some table figures are omitted, including the 5% fairly satisfied with staff and the wi-fi fairly satisfied figure. Select the key comparisons accurately and summarise them clearly.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

There is some organisation: the response begins with an introduction, then discusses user categories and satisfaction, and uses paragraph breaks to separate these areas. However, progression is weakened by repetition and unclear sequencing. Distance learning at 8% is mentioned twice, and phrases such as “on the other hand” and “on the other side” do not establish a meaningful contrast. The long final paragraph lists several satisfaction figures in one sentence, making relationships between categories difficult to follow. Use a clear overview followed by one paragraph comparing user groups and another comparing satisfaction results. Link ideas with precise transitions such as “By contrast” only when the data genuinely contrasts.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

The response uses some task-relevant vocabulary, including “percentage,” “satisfaction level,” “availability,” and “fairly satisfied,” so the reader can recognise the subject. However, the range is limited and several repeated or inaccurate expressions make the report less clear, such as “users are 95% of satisfied” and “wifi user are satisfied.” There are also frequent spelling errors in key words, including “liberary,” “satifief,” and “availibilty,” which reduce precision. Aim to use standard chart-reporting phrases consistently, such as “accounted for,” “the proportion of users,” and “were very satisfied,” and check spelling of repeated topic vocabulary.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

You attempt some longer sentences to report multiple figures, but most sentence patterns are simple or run together, and errors frequently affect clarity. For example, “here we can see the cahrt and table that show” has problems with sentence construction and agreement, while “users are 95% of satisfief to helpfulness of staff” does not form a clear grammatical relationship. Articles and plurals are often missing or inconsistent, as in “there is different type” and “45% are user.” Punctuation is also limited, with several ideas joined without full stops. Build accurate short sentences first, then practise combining comparisons with clauses such as “while” and “whereas.”
