Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.5
The response covers both parts of the visual and gives a clear overview: undergraduates form the largest user group, while staff helpfulness receives the strongest satisfaction. The figures for user categories and the reported dissatisfaction rates for books, journals and wi-fi are accurate. You also make useful comparisons, such as noting that opening hours have no dissatisfied users. To make the account more fully developed, report the satisfaction pattern for the three weaker aspects more precisely: “approximately half” very satisfied is true for books and wi-fi, but not journals (45%); their fairly satisfied proportions also differ (40%, 35% and 33%). The overview’s claim that wi-fi “hampers” satisfaction is somewhat broad, since its very-satisfied figure is close to that for books and higher than journals. Overall, the key features are selected and supported, with some scope for sharper qualification.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.0
The organisation is clear and logical: an introduction is followed by an overview, a paragraph on user categories and a final paragraph on satisfaction. This progression helps the reader distinguish the two sets of information, and linking phrases such as “Overall,” “On the other hand” and “In contrast” signal comparisons. The response also groups related figures effectively, particularly the three dissatisfaction percentages. Some connections could be more precise: “Although approximately half…” is not a complete contrast with the preceding sentence, and the final point would be clearer if it specified which satisfaction category is meant. There is also a missing space in “books, availability,” which slightly interrupts presentation. More exact linking and reference would make the cohesion smoother and less dependent on general transitions.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.5
You use an adequate range of task-related vocabulary, including “library users,” “dissatisfaction,” “availability” and “reliability,” and the meaning is generally clear. There are also attempts at more formal reporting language, such as “In terms of library user satisfaction.” However, some choices are imprecise or unnatural for describing survey data. “A survey done among a university library users” is awkward, “satisfied users the most” is not a natural collocation, and “hampers the satisfaction” overstates what the figures show. “Pupils” is also less suitable than “students” in a university context. Greater precision in describing proportions and satisfaction levels, alongside more natural collocations, would provide the flexibility and control needed for a stronger performance.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
The response includes a mix of simple and more complex forms, including the contrastive sentence beginning “Although” and clauses introduced by “while” and “as.” Most relationships between ideas remain understandable, but some grammatical errors recur. For example, “a university library users” has an article and number mismatch, and “students uses library” has subject–verb disagreement and a missing article. “Full time undergraduate students are nearly the half” also has an incorrect article and an awkward comparative structure. In “No dissatisfaction recorded yet,” the passive verb is missing, while “which are 10%, 20% and 19%” has an unclear grammatical reference. Work on articles, agreement, and complete verb phrases, and check that subordinate clauses form complete sentences. These corrections would improve accuracy while preserving the range already attempted.
