Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You identify the main user groups and correctly report the largest share, full-time undergraduates at 44%, and the smallest, academic staff at 7%. You also include several satisfaction figures, such as 95% very satisfied with staff helpfulness and the 65%/35% split for opening hours. However, the response does not fully summarise the table: the final sentence stops at “wifi had”, so the wi-fi results are omitted, and the journal figures are not clearly distinguished between very and fairly satisfied. The overview is also broad rather than selective, and “agreeing” is not an accurate description of satisfaction ratings. Cover all five facilities and give a clear overview of the strongest and weakest satisfaction results to develop the report more fully.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a basic, useful structure: an introduction, an overview, a paragraph on user categories and a paragraph on satisfaction. This helps the reader follow the two parts of the visual. However, progression becomes less clear in the final paragraph, where several facilities are joined in a long sequence and the response ends abruptly with “and wifi had”. Some links between figures are also awkward, as in “About 65 percent … with 35 percent were fairly satisfied.” Use separate, complete sentences to compare each facility, and organise the satisfaction details in a consistent order. Clearer transitions and a completed final point would make the information easier to follow.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use relevant vocabulary for describing the visuals, including “categories,” “followed by,” “satisfied,” and “availability.” These choices show an attempt to report both proportions and survey responses. However, several spelling errors are noticeable, including “catagories,” “heighest,” “distant lerners,” “helpfullness,” and “availibility,” which reduce the accuracy of the report. Some word choices are also imprecise: “agreeing” does not describe satisfaction ratings, and “users … agreeing” is less suitable than stating that respondents were satisfied. “Staggering” is overly emphatic for a neutral data summary. Aim for accurate, neutral terms such as “respondents,” “accounted for,” and “very satisfied,” and check spelling carefully.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more developed sentence forms, and the opening overview communicates a comparison between the largest and smallest user groups. However, grammatical control is inconsistent, with errors that sometimes make relationships between figures unclear. For example, “About 65 percent … were very satisfied … with 35 percent were fairly satisfied” incorrectly repeats “were” after “with”; write “while 35% were fairly satisfied.” The phrase “followed by full-time postgraduates having 25 percent users” has an awkward structure, and “whereas … had 45 percent agreeing” is not a well-formed comparison. The final clause is incomplete. Practise complete sentences with accurate linking clauses, and check verb forms and sentence boundaries before finishing.
