Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You cover both the user categories and satisfaction table, and your overview identifies the largest group, the smallest group, and the strongest and weakest satisfaction results. Most figures are reported accurately, including 44% for full-time undergraduates, 7% for academic staff, and 95% satisfaction with staff helpfulness. However, the claim that users “are not satisfied with” journals overstates the data: 20% are not satisfied, while 45% are very satisfied and 35% fairly satisfied. The comparison that the two largest groups make up “two third” is also imprecise; together they account for 69%. Some table details, especially the fairly satisfied figures, are only described generally. More precise comparisons and a clearer distinction between satisfaction categories would make the report more complete.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, an overview, a paragraph on user categories, and a paragraph on satisfaction. This makes the main information easy to locate, and transitions such as “Overall” and “Regarding the table” help signal changes in focus. However, some connections are mechanical or unclear. For example, “at second” and “whereas half of century” make the sequence of satisfaction results difficult to follow, while the final sentence lists dissatisfaction figures without explaining their relationship to the other ratings. The overview also moves abruptly from the largest and smallest user groups to satisfaction. Use more natural comparison links and group related figures into clearly ordered sentences to improve progression.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use relevant vocabulary for describing charts, including “proportion,” “largest,” “least,” “satisfaction,” and “reliability,” so the topic is generally clear. However, several word choices and collocations are inaccurate or unnatural, such as “largest contribution in library,” “found the least,” and “the second most.” There are also spelling errors in “avaibility” and “nad,” and “quater of century” does not express the intended proportion clearly. These issues sometimes make the reader pause, even though the intended meaning can usually be inferred. Aim for standard chart language such as “accounted for,” “the smallest group,” and “ranked second,” and check spelling and collocations carefully.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a contrast with “whereas” and a sentence beginning “Regarding the table.” The overall meaning is usually recoverable, but some grammatical errors recur. Examples include missing articles in “while table shows” and “in library,” subject–verb disagreement in “Full-time undergraduate are,” and the incomplete construction “distance learning … found the least.” The sentence “Both together contributing the two third proportion” is also not a complete, well-formed clause. These errors affect clarity, particularly in the comparisons. Practise accurate subject–verb agreement, articles, and complete clauses, while keeping the useful range of sentence patterns you are attempting.
