Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You cover both visuals and identify several important features, including the largest user group (44% full-time undergraduates), the small academic-staff share, and high satisfaction with staff helpfulness. Most figures are broadly reported accurately, and you make relevant comparisons across satisfaction categories. However, the academic-staff figure is 7%, not 4%, and opening-hours satisfaction is 65% very satisfied rather than 66%. The overview also gives limited synthesis: it would be clearer to contrast the strongest results (staff helpfulness and opening hours) with the weaker ratings for journals and Wi-Fi. Some details, such as the book ratings, are included, but the main patterns are not consistently developed or precisely expressed.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has an identifiable opening, an overview, and further details, so the reader can follow the broad division between user categories and satisfaction results. However, progression is uneven: the first overview sentence already includes detailed figures, and the next paragraph repeats the undergraduate figure before moving to the remaining groups. The table information is then presented in a long sequence with limited grouping. Connectors such as “on the other hand,” “in comparison,” and “similarly” show an effort to link ideas, but some are awkward or do not express a clear contrast. Organise the response into focused paragraphs and group related satisfaction results; use linking phrases only where the relationship between the figures is clear.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some task-relevant vocabulary, including “full-time undergraduate,” “fairly satisfied,” “availability,” and “reliability of wi-fi,” which helps communicate the chart’s subject. However, the range and control are limited, and repeated or imprecise expressions sometimes make the meaning less clear. For example, “account” is used repeatedly for proportions, while “fully satisfied by staff helpfulness” and “totally agree with staff nature” are not natural descriptions of survey satisfaction. There are also noticeable spelling errors, such as “catagoories,” “lern ers,” and “avalibility.” Use standard terms such as “proportion” or “share,” and check spelling and collocations carefully to make the report more precise and fluent.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple statements and longer sentences, and the reader can generally understand the comparisons. However, control is inconsistent, especially in longer sentences that combine several figures. Examples include “the lowest account reffers to academic staff only 4%” and “Account for part-time postgraduate are 16%,” where sentence structure and agreement are faulty. Articles and punctuation are also unreliable, as in “the largest account of full-time undergraduate is” and the run-on sequence beginning “Whereas, 40 and 10%.” These errors sometimes make relationships between figures difficult to follow. Practise building accurate subject–verb sentences, then use a small range of complex structures with clear punctuation and consistent grammatical patterns.
