Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5
You identify the largest user group, full-time undergraduates (44%), and include relevant satisfaction figures for staff helpfulness and Wi-Fi. However, the overview is unclear and does not accurately summarise the main patterns: staff helpfulness did not “increase”; it received the highest satisfaction rating. The user categories are also reported imprecisely: academic staff were 7%, distance learners 8%, and the postgraduate groups were 25% and 16%, but their comparisons are difficult to follow. Several important results, including opening hours and book availability, are omitted. The response is 146 words, below the required 150-word minimum. Add a clear overview and select the main contrasts across both visuals, using accurate comparisons.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5
There is an attempt to organise the response into an introduction, an overview and detail paragraphs, and you use some linking expressions such as “followed by” and “whereas.” However, the progression is difficult to follow because ideas are compressed into long, unclear sentences. For example, “followed by academic staff went down and distance learning smiler to acedemic staff” does not make the relationship between the groups clear. The satisfaction paragraph also moves from staff helpfulness to journals and Wi-Fi without a consistent comparison structure. Use separate, clearly focused paragraphs for the user categories and satisfaction results, and connect figures with precise comparisons rather than loosely linked clauses.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
You use some task-relevant terms, including “full time undergraduate,” “availability of journals,” and “reliability of wifi,” so the topic is recognisable. However, vocabulary is basic and repetitive, and frequent spelling and word-choice problems strain understanding. Examples include “incresed,” “smiler,” “sarisfied,” and “avalibility.” Phrases such as “the categories of library users most” and “the not satisfiled most” are not natural ways to describe proportions or ratings. Build a small set of accurate chart-reporting expressions, such as “accounted for,” “was the largest group,” “received the highest satisfaction rating,” and “the proportion who were dissatisfied.” Check spelling and use standard forms such as “full-time” and “Wi-Fi.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
The response attempts longer sentences and uses comparison structures, but grammatical control is very limited, and errors frequently make relationships unclear. The opening, “The chart and table illustrates,” has subject–verb disagreement; it should be “illustrate.” In “Overall, full time undergraduate the categories of library users most,” the sentence lacks a complete grammatical structure, while “helpfulness of staff increased most of the user very satisfaction” does not express a clear relationship. Articles, plurals and sentence boundaries are also often missing or inaccurate. Practise writing complete simple sentences first, with a clear subject and verb, then combine related information using accurate clauses. For example: “Full-time undergraduates made up the largest group, at 44%.”
