Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You identify the two subjects and give a relevant overview: undergraduates form the largest user group, while staff and distance learners are among the smallest, and satisfaction is strongest for staff helpfulness and opening hours. The figures you include—44%, 25%, 16%, and 95%—match the data. However, the overview is not fully precise: academic staff (7%) are the smallest group, rather than being tied with distance learners (8%). The table discussion is also selective and under-developed. It mentions books and opening hours but omits the useful contrasts for journals and Wi-Fi, where dissatisfaction is higher, especially for journals (20%). Report the main satisfaction patterns more completely and distinguish the categories accurately.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure, moving from an introduction to an overview and then to details about the chart and table. This gives the reader a basic route through the information. However, progression is weakened by the repeated use of “Overall,” “However,” “As regards,” and “A glance,” which can feel formulaic rather than showing precise relationships. The final paragraph combines several table figures without a clear comparison, and the discussion ends abruptly without covering journals or Wi-Fi. Some references, such as “the graph,” are also imprecise because the first visual is a pie chart. Group the user categories together, then compare the satisfaction results in a logical order, using linking phrases only where they clarify the relationship.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You attempt a range of task-related vocabulary, including “proportion,” “gratification,” “fulfilment,” and “contentment.” However, several choices are inaccurate or unnatural for describing survey results, which makes the account less clear: “gratification level” and “library members contentment” are not idiomatic here, while “library visiters” is both misspelled and an unsuitable label for user categories. There are also spelling and word-form problems such as “acounted” and “satisfy” where a past participle is needed. Prefer precise, conventional terms such as “user groups,” “satisfaction,” and “satisfied with.” This would make the vocabulary more accurate and help you describe the data without relying on several near-synonyms for satisfaction.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple statements and more complex structures, including clauses introduced by “in which” and “that,” but control is inconsistent. For example, “The provided pie chart and table enumerates” has a subject–verb agreement error, and “the most of proportion … are” contains a faulty construction and agreement. In “95% percent clients satisfy,” the sentence is missing an article or determiner and uses an incorrect verb form; “while” after a full stop should also begin with a capital letter. These errors sometimes make the intended relationship harder to follow, although the main points remain understandable. Build accuracy with straightforward patterns such as “The chart shows that…” and “95% of users were satisfied with…,” then add complex clauses once those sentence frames are secure.
