Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You identify the main user group correctly as full-time undergraduates (44%) and the smallest as academic staff (7%), and you report most satisfaction figures accurately. However, the overview is unclear: “the percentage of users who were very satisfaction was the highest” does not identify which service received the strongest rating. The table’s key contrast is that staff helpfulness had the highest very-satisfied result (95%), while journals had the largest dissatisfied share (20%). There is also a factual error: books’ very-satisfied figure is 50%, not 45%. The response covers both visuals, but the overview and selection of comparisons are limited, and some descriptions of satisfaction are imprecise. State the main contrasts clearly and check each figure against the table.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response is divided into three paragraphs, with one for the introduction and overview, one for user categories, and one for satisfaction results. This gives it some basic organisation, and the category figures are presented in a generally understandable sequence. However, the overall progression is not consistently clear: the opening combines an overview of user categories with a vague claim about satisfaction, while the table paragraph lists each service in turn without drawing out the most important comparisons. Linking is also limited, and phrases such as “whereas” do not clearly connect the ideas that follow. Use a distinct overview, then group related table results—for example, the strongest ratings and the areas with more dissatisfaction—to make the information easier to follow.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use relevant task vocabulary, including “full-time undergraduate,” “part-time postgraduate,” “library opening hours,” and “reliability of wi-fi.” However, the range is limited and several inaccurate or unnatural expressions make the table difficult to interpret. Examples include “very satisfaction,” “moderately contend,” “less relatively favourable,” and “most delighte”; these do not reliably convey the satisfaction categories. Spelling errors such as “statifying,” “avability,” and “extermely” also reduce clarity. Rather than replacing the table’s labels with varied but uncertain synonyms, use the precise terms “very satisfied,” “fairly satisfied,” and “not satisfied” consistently. This will improve accuracy and make comparisons more direct.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The response attempts some longer structures, such as “whereas the percentage of users…” and “Distance learning … having 2nd least percentage,” but control is inconsistent. Sentence fragments and missing or incorrect verb forms occur in examples such as “Part-time postgraduate are of 16%” and “Distance learning … having 2nd least percentage.” Agreement is also problematic in “Helpfulness of staff are” and “Availability of books are,” while articles and sentence construction are often omitted or awkward. These errors sometimes make the relationships between figures unclear. Build sentences around a clear subject and verb—for example, “Part-time postgraduates accounted for 16%”—and use simple, accurate structures before attempting more complex comparisons.
