Categories of library users
Student answer (Band 6.0)
The given pie chart illustrates the categories of library users, while the table shows the level of satisfaction of library users. Interestingly, full-time undergraduates are more than other categories and in table there are zero not satisfied in first two of table.
According to the pie chart, the highest percentage carried by full-time undergraduate, which was 44%, followed by full-time postgraduate, around 25%. The least proportion had carried by part-time postgraduate, distance learning, academic staff, which was 16%, 8%, and the least 7% respectively.
Observing the table, Almost everyone is happy with the library staff and opening hours. A huge 95% of people are very satisfied with how helpful the staff are. Moreover, People are unhappiest with the availability of journals was 20% not satisfied and the reliability of the wi-fi was 19% students are not satisfied, 48% was very satisfied and fairly satisfied students were 33% only.
Overall, it is evident that, full-time students constitute the vast majority of library users, and users express the highest overall satisfaction with staff helpfulness and opening hours. Conversely, dissatisfaction is most prominent regarding wi-fi reliability and the availability of journals.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You identify the main user group accurately (full-time undergraduates, 44%) and give the key contrast that staff helpfulness and opening hours receive very high satisfaction, while journals and wi-fi attract the most dissatisfaction. The overview is relevant and the figures for the user categories are mostly correct. However, some comparisons are incomplete or unclear: you call part-time postgraduates the least represented, although academic staff are lower at 7%, and the table discussion omits useful figures such as the 65% very satisfied with opening hours and the 50% very satisfied with book availability. The statement that “almost everyone is happy” is also broad when satisfaction varies by category. Select and compare the main figures more precisely, including the full range of satisfaction results.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, a paragraph on user categories, a paragraph on satisfaction, and a concluding overview. This gives the information a coherent progression, and linking expressions such as “Moreover” and “Overall” help signal relationships. The conclusion also usefully synthesises the strongest and weakest satisfaction areas. Some connections within sentences are less controlled, however. For example, the sentence beginning “People are unhappiest…” combines journal dissatisfaction with several wi-fi figures without a clear boundary, making the comparison harder to follow. “In the table” would also be clearer than “in table.” To strengthen cohesion further, group each table comparison in a complete sentence and use explicit contrasts, rather than joining several statistics in one long sequence.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use a suitable range of task-related vocabulary, including “categories,” “percentage,” “proportion,” “satisfied,” and “dissatisfaction.” Phrases such as “highest overall satisfaction” and “dissatisfaction is most prominent” communicate comparisons effectively. There are also some imprecise or unnatural choices: “the highest percentage carried by” and “the least proportion had carried by” do not express the data naturally, while “unhappiest” is less appropriate for formal report writing. “A huge 95%” is understandable but informal, and “students” is too narrow when the table refers to library users. Aim for accurate collocations such as “accounted for,” “the smallest share,” and “were very satisfied,” and maintain a consistently neutral academic tone.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, and the overall meaning is generally clear. The final sentence, for example, uses a well-formed contrast between the largest user group and satisfaction patterns. Some grammatical errors remain, particularly in clauses describing the figures. “The highest percentage carried by full-time undergraduate” lacks a finite verb and needs a plural noun form; “the least proportion had carried by” has an incorrect verb construction. In “People are unhappiest with the availability of journals was 20% not satisfied,” the sentence structure does not clearly connect the topic and statistic. There are also inconsistent capitalisation and punctuation choices, such as “Almost” after a comma. Build complete clauses around each figure and check subject–verb structure and sentence boundaries.
