Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You identify both visuals and include a relevant overview: undergraduates are the largest user group, and staff helpfulness receives the strongest satisfaction rating. Several figures are reported accurately, including 44% for undergraduates, 25% for full-time postgraduates, and the satisfaction split for opening hours. However, the overview is weakened by saying postgraduates are “exactly half” of undergraduates without specifying which postgraduate group; the 25% figure applies only to full-time postgraduates. More importantly, the final comparison misreports wi-fi satisfaction as 0% very satisfied, when it is 48%, and omits the not-satisfied figures for books, journals, and wi-fi. Covering the main patterns across all categories more accurately would make the summary more complete and clear.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, an overview, and separate paragraphs for the chart and table. This helps the reader distinguish the two visuals, and phrases such as “To begin with” and “In the table” signal the topic. However, progression within the table paragraph is uneven: it moves from staff helpfulness to opening hours, then groups three different services without clearly explaining their satisfaction patterns. The sentence beginning “While the availability of books…” is also left as a fragment, and “these figures” in the next sentence has an unclear reference. Organise the table information into clearer comparisons—for example, strongest satisfaction first, then the services with lower ratings—and use linking phrases to show how the figures relate.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use some task-relevant vocabulary, including “categories,” “satisfaction,” “respectively,” and “account for,” and the meaning is generally recoverable. However, the range is limited and several expressions are awkward or imprecise, such as “categories of library,” “contain minimal data,” and “these figures responsible for.” Repetition of “satisfied” and “availability” also makes the table description less flexible. Spelling errors—including “exacty,” “postgradute,” “Acadamic,” “tabe,” “availibility,” and “relibiability”—are noticeable and reduce accuracy. Aim for standard chart language and check spelling carefully; terms such as “share,” “proportion,” and “rating” would help you describe the data more precisely.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt a mix of simple statements and longer comparisons, and the opening sentence clearly introduces both visuals. However, grammatical control is inconsistent, particularly in longer sentences. For example, “While the availability of books… become 50%, 45%, and 0%” is an incomplete clause and has a subject–verb agreement problem; “these figures responsible for 40%, 35% and 33%” is also missing a verb. There are further issues with articles and sentence construction in “the full-time postgraduate stand at exactly half” and “the users who satisfied with helpfulness.” Use complete clauses with an explicit subject and verb, and check agreement and article use. Shorter, accurately formed comparisons would improve clarity while you build control of complex structures.
