Categories of library users
Student answer (Band 6.0)
The pie chart illustrates the categories of library users at a university while table shows the result of the survey that includes the satisfaction levels of the library users, in percentage.
Overall, the major potion is contributed by full-time student (undergraduate and postgraduate). There is a significant ratio of very satisfied usera while very small amount of individuals is dissatisfied.
The major contribution is made by full-time undergraduates that is 44% which is followed by full-time postgraduates with significant 25%. Moreover, 16% is contributed by part-time postgraduates while only 8% of the total share is held by distance learners. Furthermore, the least proportion is held by academic staff that is 7%.
Conversely, 95% of the users are very satisfied by helpfulness of staff which is followed by library opening hours with 65%. The remaining portion of the people arefairly satisfied. However, both these categores do not have dissatisfied users. Reliability of wi-fi has very satisfied, fairly satisfied and dissatisfied with 48%, 33% and 19%. Availibity of journals have most dissatisfied users that is 20% while 10% are dissatisfied with the availibility of books.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0
The response covers both visuals and gives a clear overview: full-time students form the largest user group, and satisfaction is generally high, with few dissatisfied users. The figures for user categories are accurately reported, and the comparisons between staff helpfulness (95% very satisfied) and opening hours (65%) are relevant. You also identify journals as having the highest dissatisfaction. This supports a well-focused summary. However, the overview is somewhat broad: “a significant ratio of very satisfied users” does not distinguish the strongest and weakest satisfaction results across all five aspects. Include a concise comparison of the main extremes—for example, staff helpfulness versus journals—and report the book and journal satisfaction patterns more fully to make the key features more complete.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, an overview, a paragraph on user categories and a final paragraph on satisfaction. This makes the two sets of information easy to follow, and linking expressions such as “Moreover,” “Furthermore” and “Conversely” help signal relationships. The organisation is coherent, but cohesion is not always smooth. The final paragraph moves quickly from staff helpfulness and opening hours to wi-fi and then books and journals, without consistently grouping the satisfaction results or explaining the comparisons. Some transitions, particularly “Conversely,” do not express a clear contrast. Group the highest satisfaction results together, then compare the lower results, and use more precise links such as “By contrast” where appropriate.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use a reasonable range of task-related vocabulary, including “categories,” “proportion,” “contributed,” “dissatisfied” and “satisfaction levels.” However, several word choices and collocations are inaccurate or unnatural, which limits precision: “major potion” appears to mean “largest proportion,” “significant ratio” is not suitable here, and “the remaining portion of the people” is awkward. There are also noticeable spelling errors, including “usera,” “categores” and “availibility.” These do not prevent the reader from understanding the main points, but they reduce clarity and control. Prefer standard chart language such as “accounted for,” “share” and “percentage,” and check spelling carefully before submitting.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
The response attempts a mix of simple and more complex sentences, including clauses introduced by “while” and “which,” and most of the intended comparisons remain understandable. However, errors occur in basic sentence construction and agreement. For example, “while table shows” needs an article, “Reliability of wi-fi has very satisfied” lacks a grammatical structure, and “Availability of journals have” has a subject–verb agreement error. The sentence “The remaining portion of the people are fairly satisfied” also has an unclear grammatical relationship between its subject and verb. Build complete clauses around the data, such as “For wi-fi reliability, 48% were very satisfied,” and check articles, agreement and sentence boundaries. More accurate control of these patterns would make the range of structures more effective.
