Student answer (Band 5.0)

The given chart and table shows the percentages of categories of library users and their satisfaction.

It is clear from the chart that percentage of full time undergraduate student is more than other categories of people where mostly user are satisfied from library staff helping baviour and the lack of journal availability cause maxmimum percentage of not satisfied.

The library user includes 44% of full time undergraduate with maximmum percentage following by full time postgradute with 25% where these both user can be cause of not satfied in reliabilty of wif-fi and availabilty of books. other three types of user are part time postgraduate, distance lerning and academic staff. unavailability of journal and library opening hours might be the reason of the minimum percentage of academic staff and distance learning.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5

You identify the main user group correctly: full-time undergraduates account for 44%, followed by full-time postgraduates at 25%. You also note that staff helpfulness receives the strongest satisfaction and journal availability the highest dissatisfaction. However, the response covers the table only selectively and gives no figures for these satisfaction results, so the main comparisons are not clearly reported. Some claims are unsupported or inaccurate: you suggest that the two largest user groups “can be cause” of dissatisfaction, although the data do not link user categories to satisfaction, and you imply opening hours explain the small academic-staff and distance-learning shares. The response is also 20 words below the required minimum. Include a fuller overview and accurate comparisons across both visuals, without suggesting causes the data cannot establish.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a basic overall shape: an introduction, an overview beginning “It is clear,” and a final paragraph with details about user categories. This gives the reader some sense of the topic, and words such as “where” and “following by” attempt to connect comparisons. However, progression is limited because the final paragraph moves from user proportions to possible causes of dissatisfaction without a clear organising principle. Several links are unclear, particularly “where these both user can be cause,” and “other three types” is not followed by their percentages. Organise the response into a clear overview and separate, logically ordered details for the chart and table; use precise references and linking phrases rather than relying on vague connections.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some task-relevant vocabulary, including “percentages,” “categories,” “satisfaction,” and “availability,” so the subject is generally recognisable. However, the range is limited and several spelling and word-form errors make the writing less clear, such as “maxmimum,” “postgradute,” “satfied,” “reliabilty,” and “lerning.” Some expressions are also imprecise or unnatural: “library staff helping baviour” and “unavailability of journal” do not clearly describe the table’s satisfaction ratings. Use accurate terms such as “helpfulness of staff,” “reliability of wi-fi,” and “not satisfied,” and check spelling carefully. More precise comparison language would also help you report the data without implying unsupported causes.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including “It is clear from the chart that…” and a sentence linking user proportions with dissatisfaction. However, grammatical control is inconsistent, and errors sometimes make relationships difficult to understand. For example, “The given chart and table shows” has subject–verb disagreement, while “percentage of full time undergraduate student is more” has problems with articles, number, and sentence construction. The clause “where these both user can be cause” is also structurally faulty, and the final paragraph contains sentence-boundary and capitalisation problems, including “other three types.” Practise accurate plural forms, articles, agreement, and complete sentence structures. Shorter, well-controlled comparisons would make your meaning clearer before you attempt more complex clauses.
