Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.5
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 150 words, which significantly impacts the ability to fully develop the response. While you have attempted to identify some main features, the analysis is incomplete, and the text ends abruptly mid-sentence. The overview is present but lacks clarity due to grammatical errors. To improve, ensure you provide a comprehensive summary of the trends and key data points, and always complete your sentences to ensure the task is fully addressed. The current length and incomplete nature of the report prevent a higher score.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the progression of ideas is hindered by frequent grammatical errors and awkward phrasing. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'Overall' and 'whereas', but they are often applied incorrectly or in a way that makes the flow mechanical. The referencing is sometimes unclear, particularly when describing the data trends. To improve, focus on using transition words more naturally and ensuring that each sentence logically follows the previous one to create a smoother reading experience.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary range is limited and repetitive. You rely on basic terms like 'closed' and 'opened' throughout the text. There are also several errors in word choice and word formation, such as 'closures shop' instead of 'shop closures' and 'closued'. These errors occasionally impede the reader's understanding. To improve, try to incorporate a wider variety of verbs and nouns related to data description, such as 'decline', 'fluctuate', 'surge', or 'commencement'. Focusing on accurate word forms will also help improve your score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.5
The response contains frequent grammatical errors that affect clarity. There are issues with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'closed shops in highest'), incorrect preposition usage, and awkward sentence structures. The attempt to use complex sentences is often unsuccessful, leading to fragmented or confusing statements. For example, 'the shops downward trend follow in starting period' is grammatically incorrect. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence structures before attempting more complex ones. Ensure you check for subject-verb agreement and correct tense usage, especially when describing past trends.
