Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0

You identify the subject and period, and your overview attempts to highlight extremes. However, several key details are inaccurate: openings peaked at about 8,500 in 2011, but closures peaked in 2013 at roughly 7,200, not in 2011; openings were lowest in 2018, while closures fell to about 600 in 2015, not 500. The account of openings also misreports the 2012 figure (about 3,900, not 6,500) and says they stayed at 4,000 for three years, although they rose to around 4,200 in 2017 and fell to 3,000 in 2018. The response is under the required 150 words, and the limited, partly inaccurate coverage leaves the main trends insufficiently reported.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a basic, useful structure: an introduction, an overview, and separate paragraphs for openings and closures. This makes the two series easy to distinguish. However, progression within the paragraphs is sometimes unclear, and linking is repetitive or awkward. For example, “Then there was a slight increase with in next two years” does not clearly specify the years or values, while “In next 3 years” gives an inaccurate summary rather than a precise sequence. Punctuation spacing also makes transitions less smooth. To improve, organise each series chronologically and use clear links such as “After falling…”, “It then rose…”, and “By 2018…”, ensuring each reference points unambiguously to a figure or year.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant task vocabulary, including “number,” “increase,” “decline,” and “ups and down trend,” so the reader can generally identify the topic and direction of change. However, the range is limited and several choices or forms are inaccurate, which sometimes makes the description difficult to interpret. “Liner chat” is not the correct term, “dradecrease” is unclear, and “a upsurge trend” is an unnatural collocation. Repetition of “number of” and “shops” also limits precision. Build a small set of accurate graph-description phrases and use them consistently, such as “shop openings,” “closures,” “fell sharply,” and “remained stable.” Check spelling and word forms before submitting.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple statements and longer sentences, and the overall meaning is usually recoverable. However, the range is limited, and errors occur frequently in sentence construction, articles, agreement, and punctuation. Examples include “number of close shops had a ups and down trend,” where the article and noun form are problematic, and “number of closed shops had a constant same,” which is not a well-formed sentence. Missing spaces after full stops and commas also affect readability. Practise accurate comparative and trend structures, for example, “The number of closures fell to about 600 in 2015” and “Openings remained at around 4,000 in 2015 and 2016.” Use past tense consistently when describing the completed period.
