Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.0
You identify the general subject—shop openings and closures over 2011–2018—and mention several relevant movements, including a rise in closures to around 7,000 and a sharp fall to below 1,000. However, the account is difficult to match to the chart: the opening figures are not clearly reported, and the statement that closures then “increase and reached at least 5000” omits the year-by-year pattern. There is no clear overview of the main contrast, such as openings starting highest and ending lower while closures fluctuate and recover after their 2015 low. Some descriptions are inaccurate or too vague to establish the data. The response is also 14 words below the required minimum. Select the key trends, give accurate comparisons, and support them with clear figures.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 3.5
The response follows a broadly chronological order and uses a few linking expressions, such as “After that,” “afterward,” and “And after that,” so the reader can see an attempt to describe change over time. However, the ideas are crowded into one paragraph and the sequence is often unclear: “After that it was decreas there was also changed” does not show which series or year is being discussed. Repeated transitions do not create a clear progression, and the opening and closing sentences do not provide a distinct overview or summary. Organise the report into an introduction, an overview, and one or two detail paragraphs, grouping related trends and naming the series in each comparison.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.0
You use some task-related vocabulary, including “number,” “decrease,” “increase,” and “reached,” which shows an attempt to describe graph trends. However, the range is basic and repetitive, and several misspellings or inaccurate forms make the report harder to understand, including “shope,” “illisutrate,” “flucture,” and “cloures.” Phrases such as “major change” and “very benifit for country” are not suitable descriptions of the figures and introduce unsupported evaluation. Use precise terms for the data, such as “shop openings,” “shop closures,” “rose,” “fell sharply,” and “remained relatively stable.” Check spelling and choose vocabulary that reports measurable trends rather than judging whether they benefited the country.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
You attempt to connect ideas in longer sentences, for example, “After that it was decreas there was also changed,” and you use some simple clauses to report figures. However, sentence structures are often incomplete or joined without clear punctuation, which makes relationships between ideas difficult to follow. Tense and agreement are also inconsistent: “shopes will be open” and “it will increse” use future forms for past data, while “there was also decrease” lacks a clear grammatical construction. Articles and prepositions are also unreliable, as in “between 2011 to 2018.” Use past simple consistently for this completed period, form complete sentences, and separate each trend with appropriate punctuation. A wider range of accurate sentence patterns would make the report clearer.
