Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response attempts to address the prompt but struggles to maintain a clear, logical position. While you state you agree that primary schools should focus on formal learning, the arguments provided are repetitive and lack depth. The ideas regarding 'private schools' and 'regular learning' are not clearly linked to the prompt's core question about the balance between play and formal instruction. The response lacks specific examples or well-developed reasoning, often circling back to the same point without advancing the argument. To improve, ensure each paragraph introduces a distinct, relevant point that directly answers the specific questions asked in the prompt.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organised into paragraphs, but the logical progression is weak. The use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate, such as the repetitive use of 'there fore' and 'in my opinion'. Referencing is frequently unclear, particularly when switching between 'primary schools' and 'private schools' without a clear distinction. The flow of ideas is hindered by these structural issues, making it difficult for the reader to follow the argument. Improving the use of transition words and ensuring that each sentence logically follows the previous one will significantly enhance the coherence of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is quite limited and repetitive, with frequent errors in word choice and spelling (e.g., 'muich', 'foral', 'beckgrounds', 'leasson'). You rely heavily on basic vocabulary, which restricts your ability to express complex ideas effectively. There is little evidence of less common lexical items or an awareness of collocation. To reach a higher band, you should focus on expanding your vocabulary related to education and learning, and pay closer attention to spelling and the correct usage of words in context. Using a wider variety of synonyms would also help avoid the repetitive nature of the current text.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that often impede communication. There are consistent issues with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'primary schools is not focus'), sentence structure, and punctuation. The range of structures is very limited, consisting mostly of simple sentences with errors in basic syntax. Complex sentence attempts are often faulty, leading to confusion. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, specifically subject-verb agreement and the correct use of articles and prepositions. Proofreading for common errors like 'is/are' confusion and verb tense consistency will help improve your accuracy.
