Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0
The response is significantly under-length at only 102 words, failing to meet the 250-word minimum requirement. Consequently, the task is only partially addressed. While you state a position, the ideas are severely underdeveloped. You mention that play is important for 'cognitive, social and behavior progress' and that formal study ensures 'career opportunities,' but these points are not expanded upon with sufficient explanation or relevant examples. To improve, you must provide a full introduction, two or three body paragraphs with detailed supporting arguments, and a clear conclusion. The current brevity prevents you from demonstrating the ability to develop a coherent argument as required by the task.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay lacks a clear structure. While there is a basic attempt to use linking words like 'Moreover' and 'Although,' the paragraphing is insufficient and the logical progression is interrupted by the brevity of the text. The ideas are presented in a fragmented manner rather than as a cohesive argument. To improve, ensure each paragraph has a clear topic sentence followed by supporting details and a concluding sentence. Use a wider variety of cohesive devices (e.g., 'furthermore,' 'consequently,' 'in contrast') to connect your ideas more fluidly and improve the overall flow of the essay.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The range of vocabulary is limited and there are several spelling errors, such as 'Admitedly,' 'opppurtunities,' 'studenat,' and 'unparalel.' These errors, combined with the restricted range of vocabulary, make the writing feel basic. You rely on simple phrasing, such as 'best education play a holistic role.' To reach a higher band, you should aim to use more precise, academic vocabulary and ensure accurate spelling. Focus on learning collocations and topic-specific terminology related to education and child development to express your ideas with greater sophistication and clarity.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede communication. Examples include 'There is a worldwide debate whether schools first prioritize' (missing 'about' and 'should'), 'play as important as' (missing 'is'), and 'a child cognitive' (should be 'a child's cognitive'). The sentence structures are mostly simple, and there is a lack of complex sentence forms. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement, the correct use of articles, and possessive forms. Practice constructing complex sentences using subordinating conjunctions to demonstrate a wider range of grammatical control.
