Student answer (Band 6.0)

It is a common belief among some people that primary schools are focusing less on practical knowledge while other disagree. I strongly agree with the stance that primary schools should include more co-curricular activities in their syllabus rather than just theoratical knowledge. Although formal learning will enhance the brain memories and abilities to understand things in different ways, it is very improtant for the young people to engage in sports as well.

In the comtemporary world, teachers and curriculum developers are focusing on updating the topics in the books that are being taught at primary level. It is significant to some extent but not enough to ignore the inclusion of sport activities in the curriculum. Schools should add practical knowledge-base classrooms during the day. It will not only make students physically active but also give them different to choose a career or ambition to follow in the later age. For example, educational institutions which include martial arts and gymnastics in their time tables will produce the students who are pursuing any sports as their career.

Meanwhile, doing physical exercise at the young age will result in both healthy body and mind. Constantly sitting in a rigid classroom might cause brain fog and less attentiveness. After playing, students feel fresh and relax to start studying again. They have sense of motivation and encouragement to participate in the class. They start communicating more easily as they have been physically and mentally active. In my opinion, both theoratical knowledge and physical activity are important. Educators allow schools to build more playing areas in their vicinity.

To conclude the topic, physical exercise has similar benefits as of theory-base knowlege. Students should have some practical knowledge in hand just like the skills of reading, writing, and memorizing.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses both parts of the prompt: the extent of agreement regarding formal learning and the importance of play. You clearly state your position in the introduction and maintain it throughout. However, some ideas are slightly under-developed. For instance, the claim that martial arts lead to career paths is a bit narrow and could have been broadened to discuss general life skills or cognitive development. While the main points are relevant, the supporting arguments could benefit from more depth to reach a higher band. Overall, the response is focused and directly answers the task requirements.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Each paragraph has a central theme, such as the benefits of physical activity for the mind and body. You use some cohesive devices like 'Meanwhile', 'For example', and 'To conclude', which help the flow of ideas. However, some transitions are a bit mechanical, and the referencing is occasionally slightly unclear, such as in the sentence 'Educators allow schools to build more playing areas', which does not quite follow the previous point about motivation. Overall, the progression of ideas is easy to follow.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'co-curricular activities', 'contemporary world', and 'curriculum developers'. There are some spelling errors, such as 'theoratical' (theoretical), 'improtant' (important), and 'knowlege' (knowledge), which are minor but frequent. Additionally, some word choices are slightly awkward, such as 'give them different to choose a career', which impedes precision. To improve, focus on using more precise collocations and ensuring accurate spelling of academic vocabulary to convey your ideas more professionally.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, such as 'Although formal learning will enhance... it is very important...'. While you attempt complex sentences, there are persistent errors in grammar and punctuation, such as 'other disagree' (others disagree), 'produce the students who are pursuing' (produce students who pursue), and 'benefits as of theory-base knowlege' (benefits as those of theory-based knowledge). These errors do not generally impede communication, but they are noticeable. Increasing the variety of error-free complex structures would help elevate your score in this criterion.
