Student answer (Band 5.0)

There is told that some people argue that primary school focus too much on formal things and i personaly agree with this opinion.

Its true that primary schools are more focused on formal learning. They believe that childrens are consumes better in formal learning as it has been continued form decad to decad. They don;t want to change that learning method which not so good thing in my prospective. learning should be fun for childrens ,they should enjoy it . When childrens are learning in a fun or enjoyable way they will consume it better.

And coming to the next question, it is so much important to play as well as learn in the primary school classroom for children. Childrens brains are not so sharp and they are get bore quickly from anything . As a example whenever you give a toys to them they are playing it with very little time after that they are bored . So if childrens are always learning by the classroom they would be bore and dont get properly what they leraning ,it is very impotant to give chance them to play . And also in this generation they can learn them with playful activity. As per i said it is very important for the children.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response addresses both parts of the prompt, expressing a clear opinion on formal learning and the importance of play. However, the response is significantly under the 250-word minimum, which limits the depth of the arguments. The ideas are presented in a repetitive manner, such as the repeated mention of children getting bored, without providing substantial examples or a nuanced discussion. The under-length nature of the essay prevents a full development of the topic, resulting in a score that reflects the lack of sufficient supporting detail and the failure to meet the basic length requirement.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is organized into three short paragraphs, but the progression of ideas is limited. While there is an attempt to use cohesive devices like 'And coming to the next question' and 'As a example', these are often used incorrectly or sound unnatural. The referencing is sometimes unclear, and the flow between sentences is disjointed. Paragraphing is present but the content within the paragraphs is not well-structured, leading to a lack of logical flow. The overall arrangement is coherent enough to follow the writer's intent, but the lack of sophisticated linking words restricts the score.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is basic and repetitive, relying on simple terms like 'fun', 'good', and 'important'. There are frequent errors in word choice and form, such as 'consumes better' instead of 'absorbs information' and 'get bore' instead of 'get bored'. The spelling is also inconsistent, with errors like 'decad', 'prospective' (used incorrectly for perspective), and 'impotant'. The range of vocabulary is insufficient to express complex ideas, and the errors occasionally make the reader pause to interpret the intended meaning.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay relies heavily on simple sentence structures. There are frequent grammatical errors throughout, including subject-verb agreement issues ('primary school focus', 'childrens are'), incorrect pluralization ('childrens'), and punctuation errors (e.g., 'don;t', 'decad to decad'). The misuse of articles and prepositions is also common. While the meaning is generally understandable, the high frequency of errors in basic grammar and the lack of complex sentence structures prevent the response from reaching a higher band. The writing lacks the control necessary for a higher score.
