Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response attempts to address all parts of the two-part prompt, discussing formal learning and the importance of play. However, the student struggles significantly with comprehension of the prompt terminology, referring to formal learning as 'translation learning' and writing somewhat contradictory statements, such as 'I strongly agree with statement' while later arguing for play. The position is at times unclear due to confusing phrasing. Ideas are presented but remain under-developed and lack extension. For instance, the reference to a survey in Denmark is vague and poorly integrated. While the writer covers the task minimally, the underdeveloped arguments and misinterpretations place this at a Band 5.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is divided into an introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion, showing basic paragraphing. However, progression and logical flow are heavily disrupted by awkward transitional phrases, such as 'Rather than, I strongly agree with statement.' Cohesive devices are frequently misused or clumsy ('The Reason Behind it that...', 'By adding specialization...'). Referencing is also confusing, as pronoun use is imprecise ('That rules this rule will keep them far in future'). There is some organization, but overall cohesion is inadequate and repetitive, reflecting the characteristics of a Band 5 performance.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary range is limited and frequently inappropriate. The student uses incorrect collocations and lexical items, such as 'translation learning' instead of formal learning, and 'stress for examination' instead of exam stress. There are noticeable errors in word choice ('enjoyment with learning' instead of enjoying learning) and spelling or capitalization ('Denmark', 'Education'). While the vocabulary is minimally adequate to convey a basic topic, the frequent errors and restricted range mean the response does not exceed a Band 5.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The student attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but many of the complex structures are grammatically flawed or incomplete. There are frequent errors in verb forms, prepositions, and sentence construction, such as 'the primary Education of children should be done in proper structured way' and 'at very age this would lead to another career option for them.' Punctuation and capitalization errors are also prevalent throughout the text. These frequent errors cause some difficulty for the reader and align closely with the Band 5 descriptors.
