Student answer (Band 5.0)
Many people believe that primary schools to much focus on formal learning. I parly agree and disagree with this statement because study is important for children espacially, skill, future. however sports are also very important like, body fitness, mind fresh and teamwork.
There are two main reason why I agree with this statement. Firstly, study is important for childrens future because nowaday, to much technology are available in all over the world, without any knowlege you cannot survive, so study is very important everyone included childrens. Furthernore, study is also very important for skill, because without any skill they cannot have any job and also they can't start any business. this is only possible that when the school focus on formal learing. academic school can provide the base anything.
On the other hand, I believe that sport are very important for children. when childrens can go out play any game on ground they feel very fresh and relex. As a result childrens can more focus on their study and perform to much better in exams and other activities. Howerover, when childrens learn teamworks. when they play any game they learn many new things and also learn honesty, kindness. This thing is also very important their future. For example, childrens play cricket they learn teamwork and kindness.
In conclusion people believe that primary schools to much focus on formal learning. I have both negative and positive opinion with this statement because academic schools help childrens to increase their knowledge and future planing, compared with increase their teamwork, honestly level and fitness for sport.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
The response addresses both parts of the prompt, discussing the focus on formal learning in primary schools and the importance of play and sports. The writer attempts to present a position by stating they 'partly agree and disagree' with the statement. However, the ideas are relatively basic and lack sufficient extension. For example, when mentioning that study is important for the future and technology, the explanation remains superficial ('without any knowlege you cannot survive'). Similarly, the arguments about sports touching on fitness and teamwork are briefly noted but lack specific, fully developed examples from the writer's own knowledge or experience. The response touches upon all aspects of the task, which corresponds to Band 5.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The text is organized into paragraphs, including an introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion, showing some basic structure. However, the logical progression is frequently disrupted by awkward transitions, repetitive phrasing, and mechanical cohesive devices like 'Firstly', 'Furthernore', and 'Howerover'. Referencing is sometimes unclear, such as 'This thing is also very important their future', where the exact antecedent is ambiguous. Paragraphing is attempted, but internal cohesion is often faulty due to abrupt shifts between ideas. Overall, the organization shows some structure but lacks clear overall progression and smooth links, placing it firmly at Band 5.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is generally basic and repetitive throughout the response. The student frequently reuses words like 'important', 'study', 'childrens', and 'formal learning'. There are also several noticeable spelling and word choice errors, such as 'parly' instead of 'partly', 'espacially', 'knowlege', 'Furthernore', 'relex', and 'teamworks'. The lexical range is limited and minimally adequate for the task. While the vocabulary is sufficient to convey the general message, these persistent errors cause some difficulty for the reader and restrict the score to a Band 5.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The student uses a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, but attempts at complex structures are frequently faulty and ungrammatical. There are numerous grammatical errors throughout the text, including missing articles ('sport are very important'), incorrect verb forms ('when childrens can go out play'), subject-verb agreement issues ('to much technology are available'), and punctuation mistakes. Run-on sentences and fragments also appear, such as 'this is only possible that when the school focus on formal learing.' These frequent errors cause strain for the reader and indicate a grammar profile consistent with Band 5 descriptors.
