Student answer (Band 6.0)
Many individuals believe that grade schools concentrate mainly on academic courses. From my perspective education is important there is no debate about it but considering other activities are benificial too. It is very essential for children to learn other skills along with having educational lectures.
Depending solely on adademics and neglecting extra curriculum activities in today's world is not considered enough when there are multiple options besides education where a person can showcase brilliant skills and achieve much more than thoses whose profession rely on education. Adding to that courses are essential too but they cannot provide each and every student a ability to get sucessfull in their life for example, there are many kids who are not good in academics learning but have some awsome skills which can get polished by the teacher's support. Moreover, students who enjoy drawing and art and craft can perform way much better if grammer school provide them opportunities to polish their skills. Chineses Educational institues have been arranging separate courses for young kids starting from grade schools which helps them to get more perfect by the time as young children tends to learn things and gain interest more easily and precisely.
Creating a environment in the classroom where students can learn together can enhance their sense of responsibility to work in a structured group. Whether it is academic skill or some other life skills it make understanding more fun and enjoyable to do while having a good company of friends. Moreover kids who learn in a setteled environment are more likely to engage and manage theirselves better in a stressful situation.
In conclusion, primary schools should also focus on skill training along with education to make learning meaningful and beneficial for pupils.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
The response addresses all parts of the two-part prompt, acknowledging the focus on formal learning and discussing the importance of play alongside academics. However, the development of ideas is uneven. For instance, the discussion on Chinese educational institutions is introduced briefly without sufficient extension to fully support the argument. The position is generally clear throughout the essay, leaning towards the importance of incorporating other activities and life skills into primary education. To reach the next level, the writer needs to ensure that all main ideas are fully extended and supported with more thorough explanations and concrete examples rather than relying on generalised statements.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The essay presents a coherent overall arrangement with a clear stance established in the introduction and reinforced in the conclusion. Paragraphing is used to separate main ideas, such as the benefits of skill-building in the second paragraph and the social environment of the classroom in the third. However, cohesion at times feels mechanical or faulty, with transitional markers like 'Adding to that' and 'Moreover' appearing somewhat repetitious or awkwardly placed. Referencing can also be imprecise, occasionally making the progression of ideas feel abrupt. To improve, the writer should employ a wider and more natural variety of cohesive devices and ensure smoother logical transitions between sentences.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is adequate for communicating basic ideas, but the range is limited and contains noticeable inaccuracies. There are frequent spelling and word-choice errors, such as 'benificial' instead of beneficial, 'adademics' instead of academics, 'extra curriculum' instead of extracurricular, 'awsome' instead of awesome, 'grammer' instead of grammar, and 'Chineses' instead of Chinese. These errors occasionally cause slight strain for the reader. Furthermore, the writer attempts less common vocabulary like 'showcase brilliant skills' and 'setteled environment', but these phrases are either imprecise or inaccurately formed. To achieve a higher band, the student must expand their lexical repertoire and eliminate basic spelling and collocation mistakes.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
The response demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, attempting structures such as conditional and relative clauses. However, there are persistent errors in grammar and punctuation, including run-on sentences and missing punctuation between clauses, as seen in 'From my perspective education is important there is no debate about it but considering other activities are benificial too.' Other errors involve subject-verb agreement ('young children tends to learn'), article usage ('Creating a environment'), and prepositional patterns ('perform way much better'). While these errors rarely completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to prevent the text from reaching a higher grammatical level. Greater control over complex sentence construction and punctuation is required.
