Student answer (Band 6.0)
There is an ongoing debate about whether formal learning method is strictly followed by primary schools or not followed by the importance of learning alongside playing. However, I believe primary schools are imposing formal learning on students and also I think it is very much important to make the learning joyful by indulging them in games.
The major reason in favour of this argument is that there is more and more ambitions being imposed on children by their parents. Inorder to satisfy their dreams, the primary schools are limiting fun in the education. As a result, more formal learning method is followed to achieve noble aim of the parents. In addition to this, the reputation of the school is also the reason for imposing this kind of learning. The misconception of spending more time in learning results in more accolades is being the culprit.
It is most important for the children to play alongside learning because playing makes the mind fresh and also helps in maintaining a peaceful life. The instant relaxation after playing a game is a crucial factor for the children, which helps them to concentrate for longer time. Likewise, students indulging in playing activities tend to grow disciplined and fit. For example, kids who are playing and learning simultaneously will develop stronger like for learning.
To conclude, the importance given to formal learning is keep on increasing due to the high expectation of the parents and society. While, I beleive it is important to make learning lively by allowing the kids to play for the better well-being.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
The response addresses all parts of the task by discussing both the extent of formal learning and the importance of play in primary schools, establishing a clear position. The ideas presented are generally relevant, such as parental expectations influencing academic pressure and the role of play in student well-being and concentration. However, some ideas are under-developed or lack sufficient extension with specific examples. For instance, the point regarding school reputation is introduced briefly without deep elaboration, and the examples provided in the body paragraphs remain somewhat general. This places the response comfortably within the expectations for this level, where all parts are addressed though some more fully than others, showing glimpses of better-developed supporting points.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The essay demonstrates a coherent overall arrangement with a clear, logical structure split into an introduction, distinct body paragraphs addressing each part of the prompt, and a conclusion. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate ideas. Cohesive devices are employed to connect sentences, such as 'The major reason in favour', 'As a result', and 'To conclude'. However, referencing and cohesion are occasionally mechanical or slightly faulty, such as the abrupt transition in 'While, I beleive' in the final paragraph. Additionally, some transitional phrases feel a bit formulaic, which prevents the essay from achieving a fully seamless flow. Progression is apparent throughout, ensuring the reader can follow the writer's line of thought easily.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
The writer uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting some less common lexical items such as 'ambitions', 'accolades', and 'well-being'. However, there are noticeable limitations and inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'formal learning method is strictly followed' instead of methods, and 'stronger like for learning' instead of a stronger affinity or enthusiasm for learning. Spelling and word-form errors are present, including 'Inorder' and 'beleive'. These errors do not seriously impede communication, but they reflect the constraints of this level where precision and flexibility with sophisticated vocabulary are still developing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
The essay displays a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating an attempt to vary sentence structures with clauses introduced by 'because', 'while', and 'which'. There are, however, several errors in grammar and punctuation. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues like 'more and more ambitions being imposed', awkward article usage in 'the primary schools are limiting fun in the education', and prepositions inside grammatical patterns such as 'concentrate for longer time'. Punctuation is also slightly flawed, with missing commas and unnecessary separation of sentences. These errors occur across a mix of structures but rarely impede overall communication, aligning well with the characteristics of this band level.
