Student answer (Band 6.0)

Formal learning is an essential part of education. Many critics argue that primary schools should give priority to well managed learning practices. Apart from that, games are also playing a crucial role in primary school classes. I will discuss my both views in the upcoming paragraphs before mention my opinion.

To begin with, formal learning helps children develop mindset with confidence. In primary educations, a teacher always supports their students whenever they face difficulties in learning basic knowledge such as alphabets, mathamatical countings, speaking respectfully and so on. To elaborate it, primary learning education built children for bright future because the instructor teach the well-suited primary syllabus to children which helps every child to develop their mind for further education. In addition, formal learning practices develop confidence and make children smart and quick for studies.

Games have a significant role in child's education. Either games build students physically active or give them energy and motivation for doing studies. To explicate it, schools should provide playful environment to children along with studies so every child can learn in more interactive way. Because of small ages, the long period of learning can spoil childrens' interest in studies. It can be fixed by playing with them in the intervals of study timings. Consequently, it can enhances both confidence and activeness. For instance, nowadays games such as snakes and ladders, ludo, carom play with studies in many primary schools and the positive results make it compulsory in many schools.

In my opinion, while both perspective have valid arguments, i finally believe that formal learning along with games or play are a best approach for a child's overall growth. This approach strikes a balance practically.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You address both parts of the prompt: you explain benefits of formal learning, discuss the role of games, and conclude that a balance supports children’s overall growth. Your position is therefore identifiable, and examples such as using games during study intervals help keep the response relevant. However, the extent of your agreement with the claim that schools focus too much on formal learning is not made explicit until the conclusion, and the opening says you will discuss “both views” without clearly defining them. Some ideas are also under-developed: for example, the claim that games make children “physically active” is not connected to a specific classroom learning outcome. State your degree of agreement early and explain how play complements formal instruction.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a clear overall arrangement: an introduction, separate paragraphs on formal learning and games, and a concluding opinion. This makes the main line of discussion easy to follow, and transitions such as “To begin with,” “In addition,” and “In my opinion” signal the stages of your argument. The organisation is coherent, though some links are mechanical or unclear. “Apart from that” does not clearly show the relationship between formal learning and games, while “Either games build…” does not express the intended alternatives or addition. The example about board games also arrives without a clear explanation of how they support learning. Use more precise linking phrases and connect each example directly to the point it illustrates.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use a relevant range of education-related vocabulary, including “formal learning,” “interactive,” “motivation,” and “overall growth,” which allows you to discuss both instruction and play. There are also attempts at less common phrasing, such as “well-suited primary syllabus,” but some choices are inaccurate or unnatural and reduce precision. Examples include “develop mindset with confidence,” “primary educations,” “mathematical countings,” and “playful environment.” Spelling errors such as “mathamatical” and “childrens’” also affect the impression of control. Aim for natural collocations and accurate word forms—for instance, “build confidence,” “primary education,” and “basic numeracy.” This would make your ideas clearer and more fluent.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, including clauses introduced by “whenever,” “because,” and “while.” Most sentences communicate the intended meaning, but some grammatical errors remain across the response. For example, “the instructor teach” has a subject–verb agreement error, and “it can enhances” uses an incorrect verb form. Articles and plurals are also inconsistent in phrases such as “in child's education” and “both perspective.” The sentence beginning “Because of small ages” is a fragment, while the final sentence, “This approach strikes a balance practically,” has an awkward structure. Review agreement, articles, and sentence completeness, and check each complex sentence for a clear grammatical connection between its clauses.
