Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You address both parts of the question: you support formal learning and explain that play and physical activity are also important. Your position is clearest in the opening, where you say formal learning is crucial, and in the later paragraphs about tiredness, fitness and emotional bonding. However, the response does not fully answer whether primary schools focus too much on formal learning. The sentence “primary school should focus too much on formal learning” appears to argue the opposite of the prompt, but your later points suggest a need for balance. Ideas such as learning basic skills and becoming successful are relevant, yet they are asserted rather than explained with specific examples. State your degree of agreement clearly and develop each reason with an example or explanation.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, separate paragraphs on formal learning and play, and a conclusion. This helps the reader identify the main topics. However, progression between ideas is limited, and several paragraphs repeat the importance of formal learning without adding a distinct supporting point. Linking phrases such as “Firstly,” “Moreover,” and “On the other hand” are used, but some do not accurately show the relationship between the ideas; for example, “On the other hand” introduces the effects of studying too much rather than a clear contrast. Sentence boundaries and spacing are also inconsistent, making the flow harder to follow. Organise the body around two clear claims—learning and play—and use transitions that show how each claim relates to your position.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use a basic range of topic-related vocabulary, including “formal learning,” “academic subject,” “physical activity,” and “emotional bonding.” These choices make the general subject understandable. However, the range is limited and some word choices or collocations are inaccurate, which sometimes makes the intended meaning unclear. Examples include “a basic of skills of life,” “formal skills,” and “school commuties allow to play in ground.” Spelling and word-form errors such as “significat,” “consirded,” “carrers,” and “recaptulated” are also noticeable. Build a more precise vocabulary for discussing education and child development, and check spelling and common word partnerships. For instance, use “basic life skills,” “academic foundations,” and “provide opportunities for outdoor play.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

You attempt both simple statements and longer sentences, including clauses beginning with “when” and “because”-like explanations. However, the range is limited, and errors in sentence construction and basic grammar occur frequently, sometimes making relationships between ideas difficult to understand. For example, “when the child go first time in school” has problems with subject–verb agreement and clause structure, while “they should aquire knwledge” lacks a correctly formed verb phrase. Articles, plurals and agreement are also inconsistent, as in “the child,” “the childrens,” and “his mind or body are growing.” Capitalisation and punctuation errors, such as starting sentences with lowercase letters and joining sentences without spaces, further affect accuracy. Practise accurate simple sentences first, then add subordinate clauses with correct subjects and verbs.
