Student answer (Band 6.0)

There is an ongoing debate that primary school students should focus more on formal learnings rathar than spending time outside the classrooms. I completely disagree with the formal learning method as its quite essential for childern to have some physical activites on the daily basis.

I firmly believe that childern have the capacity to learn and discover new ideas outside the textbook as most of the students find it difficult to learn through the books or novels. By nature, children are curious about getting knowledge and awarness from others, sitting for long hours in the formal classroom with decipline, will discourage the student to learn as they get bored or tired easily in first few hours.

People propose a solution; schools should schedule an hour of physical activities daily that can be calendared as gymnastics, aerobics, karate or other sports class on daily basis. Like other mandatory courses, schools should schedule these games classes as well. Furthermore some people argues that, as kids grow older, they become busy in their lives and eventually stop payling outside, than these childhood outdoor games really help their body. As reserches shows that, high physical activity in young age builds muscle strength which last till middle age.

In conclusion, playing outside builds a realiable foundation of good health and physical strength that can't be achieve by formal learning in classrooms. A rise in technological advancemnet has lowered the rate of sports participation in teenage kids so its better to build that habbit from the primary school.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

Your position is clear: you disagree with an emphasis on formal learning and argue that children need physical activity. You give relevant reasons, including that long classroom sessions can leave pupils bored and that exercise may support health later in life. However, the response addresses the two questions unevenly. It focuses mainly on outdoor exercise and does not explain in enough detail how play should be combined with learning inside the primary classroom, which is specifically asked. The suggestion of scheduling sports classes is relevant, but the benefits of classroom play for learning—such as cooperation, creativity, or understanding concepts—are not developed. To strengthen the response, explain more fully what balance you recommend and support each main point with a specific example.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion. The main ideas generally progress from children’s curiosity and classroom fatigue to the value of physical activity, and linking expressions such as “Furthermore” and “In conclusion” help signal this movement. However, the progression is not always smooth: the second body paragraph shifts from a proposed timetable to claims about ageing and muscle strength without clearly connecting these points to play as part of classroom learning. Some transitions, including “Like other mandatory courses,” repeat the scheduling idea rather than extending it. Use clearer topic sentences and connect each paragraph directly to your position, while making references such as “these childhood outdoor games” more precise.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use a relevant range of vocabulary, including “formal learning,” “curious,” “physical activities,” “muscle strength,” and “sports participation.” These choices make your central argument understandable, and you attempt more specific terms such as “gymnastics” and “aerobics.” However, several spelling errors and imprecise or unnatural combinations reduce accuracy, for example “learn through the books,” “calendared as gymnastics,” and “builds a realiable foundation.” Some words are also repeated, particularly “daily” and “formal learning.” Aim for more natural collocations and check spelling carefully; for instance, describe activities as being “scheduled” and refer to “learning from textbooks.” This would make your vocabulary more precise and fluent.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and complex sentence forms, including a reason clause in “as most of the students find it difficult to learn” and a conditional time reference in “as kids grow older.” The overall meaning is usually clear, but some grammatical errors occur in longer sentences and in agreement or verb patterns. For example, “some people argues” should use a plural verb, while “stop payling outside” needs a gerund form after “stop.” The sentence beginning “sitting for long hours” also has an unclear structure and would be easier to follow if divided or recast. Review subject–verb agreement, verb forms, and sentence boundaries, while retaining your attempts to explain relationships between ideas.
