Student answer (Band 5.0)
Dear Friend,
I'm writing you to invite you to celebrate 10 years of graduation anniversary.
Its been a long like since we all classmate gather and celebrate some event, so i am thinking to organise a anniversary for us all as its been ten years since we passed collage let's celebrate this ocassion and have a get together.
As i am giving a thought to myself that we never get a chance to meet our classmates after we clear ourgraduation it is a very good idea to meet all of them and celebrate. As everyone is busy in their life and job it will be great to have a day off and have a get together and refresh our collage memories once agian.
i'll be very greatfull if you help me to connect with everyone as its been a long 10 years i lost contact of most of them and i know you were very co-operative with everyone and i think you will be in touch with most of them so can you please invite all of them to the given address.
Yours sincearly

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5
You address the main purpose by proposing a reunion and explaining that it would let former classmates reconnect and revisit college memories. The request for help is also present: you ask your friend to contact and invite people. However, the event itself remains vague: “organise a anniversary” does not say what kind of celebration you have in mind, such as a dinner or party, and “the given address” refers to information that has not been provided. The reasons are relevant but mostly general, and the practical help requested is limited to invitations. Develop the plan with a venue, date or activity, and one or two specific tasks for your friend. These gaps mean the task is only partially addressed.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The letter has a recognisable structure: you introduce the invitation, explain the reason for meeting, and finish by asking for help. Paragraph breaks support this basic organisation, and the ideas are generally related to the reunion. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes unclear, particularly in the long second paragraph, where the proposal and its rationale run together. Linking phrases such as “so” and “as” are repeated, and the final request refers to “the given address” without establishing an address earlier. Use shorter, more clearly focused paragraphs and connect each point in a deliberate sequence: event plan, benefits, then your friend’s specific role. A suitable personal greeting and a clearer closing would also make the letter feel more complete.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the general idea, including “celebrate,” “classmates,” “get together,” and “memories.” The wording is understandable overall, but the range is limited and several noticeable spelling and word-choice errors reduce precision, for example “collage” for “college,” “ocassion,” “agian,” and “greatfull.” Some phrases are also unnatural, such as “celebrate 10 years of graduation anniversary” and “lost contact of most of them.” Choose more natural collocations, such as “mark our tenth graduation anniversary” and “lost touch with most of them,” and check spelling carefully. More precise vocabulary for the event and its arrangements would help you express the plan more clearly and flexibly.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and longer sentences, including a reason clause in “As everyone is busy in their life and job…” and a request framed as a question. However, complex sentences are often faulty or difficult to follow, and errors occur frequently enough to affect clarity. Examples include “Its been a long like since we all classmate gather,” where the verb forms and sentence structure are unclear, and “i am thinking to organise a anniversary,” which has problems with article use and construction. Capitalisation and punctuation are also inconsistent, as in the lowercase “i'll” and the run-on final request. Practise accurate past and present forms, articles, and sentence boundaries; splitting long sentences into shorter ones will make your meaning easier to follow.
