Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You address the three requested points: you propose a reunion with games and performances, explain that it could reconnect classmates and inspire alumni, and ask for help with organising it. The event is identifiable, and the friendly opening and closing suit a letter to a college friend. However, some ideas are unclear or only briefly developed. For example, the reference to “freshers” performing and a speech by department heads is not explained, and the request for help does not specify practical tasks such as contacting classmates, arranging the hall, or coordinating activities. The reason that the event would encourage alumni is also asserted rather than clearly explained. Develop these details and make the request more specific so each part of the task is fully clear.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The letter has a coherent overall arrangement: it introduces the reunion, gives reasons for holding it, asks for help, and ends with a suitable sign-off. Paragraphing helps distinguish these stages, and linking expressions such as “because,” “However,” and “therefore” show how ideas relate. At times, though, connections are mechanical or unclear. The sentence beginning “This is a good way” combines several ideas about alumni, speeches, and anecdotes without showing their relationship clearly. “However” also suggests a contrast, but the following sentence mainly continues the request for help. Use shorter, more focused sentences and clearer references to connect each point; this would make the progression easier to follow while preserving the useful overall structure.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use vocabulary relevant to a reunion, including “get together,” “theme,” “community hall,” “motivational speech,” and “connectivity.” These choices communicate the general purpose and show some willingness to use less common expressions. However, noticeable spelling and word-choice errors sometimes make the message difficult to interpret, as in “bolloywood,” “allumini,” “ancedots,” and “conectivity.” Some phrases are also unnatural or imprecise: “It's 10 years to see you all” and “make the most of it this event” do not express the intended meaning clearly. Choose familiar, accurate collocations first, and check spelling and word forms carefully. More precise language for the activities and the help required would also make the letter more effective.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including a reason clause with “because” and a conditional request beginning “if.” This gives the letter some structural variety, but control is inconsistent, and several errors make relationships between ideas harder to understand. Examples include “I have been decided the theme,” “this encourage other,” and “if you will help me.” The long sentence about the community hall and alumni also joins several clauses without clear grammatical control. Review verb forms and subject–verb agreement, and use direct, complete sentence patterns—for example, “I have decided on the theme” and “This could encourage other alumni.” Breaking up sentences that contain several ideas will help you show range more accurately.
