Student answer (Band 5.5)
Dear Singh,
I hope you are doing well. I would like to inform you that it had been 10 years since we left our college. A numerous memories of college time is still fresh in our minds. I hope you still remember many of those memories.
I would like to organize a meet-up event in which all of our classmates will join and will memorize the memories. We will send a letter to everybody to join this show. Everybody will be welcomed, however, there would be a one condition, everybody needs to know the funny moments that we enjoyed together in high school.
Moreover, we will organize this event at Taj Hotel, which is known for its remarkable service. I hope everyone will enjoy the event.
I would like to make a request that if you could make the list of all the batchmates of high-school so that we can send them with the invite. Rest of all the preparations will be done by me.
Hope to hear from you soon.
Best wishes,
Champ

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You cover the three requested points: you propose a reunion, give a venue and a reason for choosing it, and ask Singh to prepare a classmates’ list. The friendly opening and closing also suit a personal letter. However, the celebration plan is only partly clear: “memorize the memories” and the condition about knowing “funny moments” do not explain what guests will actually do. The reason for choosing the Taj Hotel is limited to its service, without explaining why the venue suits this group or anniversary. The request for help is specific, but the rest of the arrangements are simply assigned to yourself. Develop the event activities and explain more fully why this format would be enjoyable for everyone.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The letter has a clear overall arrangement: you introduce the anniversary, describe the proposed gathering and venue, then make your request and close politely. Paragraph breaks help distinguish these stages, and linking expressions such as “Moreover” and “however” show an attempt to connect ideas. Some connections are not fully logical or clear, though. For example, “Everybody will be welcomed, however” is followed by a condition that seems to restrict who can attend, and “Rest of all the preparations” does not clearly connect to the request for a list. Repetition of “memories” also makes the first two paragraphs feel less developed. Use more precise references and transitions so the reader can follow the plan without having to infer how the details fit together.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use vocabulary relevant to a reunion, including “classmates,” “organize,” “remarkable service,” and “preparations,” and the intended meaning is generally understandable. There is some variety in how you describe the event and the request. However, several word choices or combinations are unnatural or imprecise, such as “memorize the memories,” “join this show,” and “send them with the invite.” “High school” is also inconsistent with the task’s reference to college, which may confuse the reader about which group you mean. Repeated use of “memories” limits the range. Aim for natural collocations and precise terms for the event, invitations, and former college classmates; this will make the letter sound more fluent and appropriate.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You use mostly straightforward sentences and attempt some more complex forms, including “I would like to inform you that…” and “I would like to make a request that if…”. The message remains understandable, but errors in agreement, articles, and sentence construction are noticeable. For example, “A numerous memories … is” has problems with both the noun phrase and subject–verb agreement, while “there would be a one condition” uses an incorrect article pattern. The request sentence beginning “if you could make the list” is also awkwardly constructed. Review plural agreement and article use, and practise making polite requests with a clear structure, such as “Could you make a list…?” More accurate control of these patterns would improve clarity.
