Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0
The student covers all parts of the task well. The letter specifies the kind of celebration event ('a get to gather on October 25, 2026' with friends and family), explains why this is a good idea ('everyone was single... now everyone will come with their family'), and describes the help needed ('find a good and affordable catering team'). The tone is appropriately informal and friendly throughout, matching the requirements of a general training letter to a friend. The bullet points from the prompt are all successfully integrated and sufficiently developed within the context of the letter, leading to a solid task response.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The letter is generally clear in its logical organisation, moving logically from the greeting and purpose to the reasons for the celebration, followed by the request for help. Paragraphing is used to separate these distinct stages of the letter, though the division could be slightly better managed. Cohesive devices are used, but there are instances of faulty referencing and mechanical linking, such as repetitive use of commas with conjunctions like 'and' ('It's been almost ten years, we completed our college days' and 'we all were saperated... and, one of the key reason'). Paragraphs generally progress from one idea to the next, but the referencing across sentences sometimes feels a little disjointed.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
The student demonstrates an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting some less common phrases such as 'memorable', 'affordable catering team', and 'in particular field'. However, there are notable spelling errors ('saperated' for separated, 'carerr' for career, 'ans' for and, 'Thereforre' for therefore) and awkward word choices or collocations ('get to gather' instead of get-together, 'good experties' instead of good expertise). While these errors are noticeable and detract from the precision of the text, they do not seriously impede communication as the reader can still easily follow the intended meaning.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, such as 'when we left the college in 2016, everyone was single and, in the celebration everyone will come with their family.' However, grammatical accuracy is inconsistent. There are several punctuation and run-on sentence errors, comma splices, and incorrect verb tense applications or forms (e.g., 'It's been almost ten years, we completed our college days' should use a preposition or relative clause, and 'I want arrange' is missing 'to'). While the meaning remains mostly clear, the frequent errors in punctuation and basic grammar place this response firmly in the band 5 range.
