Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
The candidate successfully covers all three bullet points required by the prompt. First, the writer specifies the kind of event to organise by stating, 'I decide to Organise Alumini meet event'. Second, reasons are provided for this choice, such as getting the 'chance to help eachother at professional level' and creating a fun atmosphere with 'delicious food' and small talks. Third, the letter clearly describes the help needed by asking the friend to 'help me find the contacts and address details of other classmates'. The tone is appropriately informal and friendly throughout. All parts of the prompt are addressed adequately, placing this response at Band 6.0.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The letter is organised into clear paragraphs with an overall logical arrangement. The writer makes use of some cohesive devices such as 'Additionally', 'Furthermore', and 'It would be great if'. However, the use of cohesion is at times mechanical and slightly repetitive. Furthermore, referencing is occasionally imprecise, such as in the phrase 'would be significantly beneficial as well as for everyone', where the phrasing lacks smoothness. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the introduction, the body points, the request for help, and the sign-off, fulfilling the requirements for Band 6.0.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
The candidate demonstrates an adequate vocabulary for the task, attempting some less common lexical items such as 'radiant health', 'cherished old memories', and 'professional level'. However, there are noticeable spelling and word choice errors, including 'Alumini' instead of alumni, 'intresting' instead of interesting, and 'eachother' written as one word. The phrase 'Hope this letter find you' contains a grammatical slip related to verb form. While these errors are present, the meaning remains clear throughout, aligning with the descriptors for Band 6.0.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
The writer uses a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, such as 'I believe that this celebration would significantly beneficial as well as for everyone' and 'I would greatly appreciate your assistance in this matter'. However, there are frequent grammatical errors and awkward phrasings, such as 'Since long long time we met, so I decide to Organise', missing articles, and incorrect prepositions ('share new ideas and experiences we had in our life'). These errors occasionally cause strain, but they rarely impede overall communication, putting the grammatical control at a Band 5.5.
