Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
The student covers all three bullet points required in the task instructions. First, the writer states the kind of celebration event they want to organise, specifically proposing a Bollywood-themed party including games, dancing, and dinner. Second, they explain why they think it would be good to celebrate in this way, mentioning that 'all of us are love to bollywood them so make it and w're love to dancing on bollywood songs'. Third, the writer describes what help is needed, asking Priyanka for her assistance with organising and decoration, as well as inquiring about a discount through her mother's catering business. All parts of the prompt are addressed, though the ideas are somewhat repetitive and lack full development. This places the response comfortably at Band 5.0.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5
The letter lacks appropriate paragraphing and is presented in a dense, poorly organised block of text with fragmented sentences. Cohesive devices are used awkwardly or repetitively, such as the frequent overuse of 'so' to link clauses ('so, i want to all friend met', 'so, i'ld tell you', 'so you came at my home so w'r discuse'). While the overall purpose of the letter is understandable, the logical progression is hindered by poor punctuation, lack of clear sentence boundaries, and erratic paragraph structure. Referencing is sometimes confusing. Overall, the organisation aligns with the Band 4.0 to 4.5 descriptors, but given the basic flow of ideas, it meets the standard for a Band 4.5.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.0
The vocabulary used is very basic and repetitive. The student relies heavily on simple words and makes numerous spelling mistakes, such as 'letf' instead of 'left', 'collage' instead of 'college', 'theam' instead of 'theme', 'desieded' instead of 'decided', 'Moreever' instead of 'Moreover', 'y're' instead of 'you are', 'hlep' instead of 'help', and 'cetaring' instead of 'catering'. Less common vocabulary is attempted with 'Bollywood theme', but inaccurate word forms and spelling errors frequently impede communication and strain the reader. This performance reflects the Band 4.0 descriptors.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.0
The grammatical range is extremely limited. The student attempts complex structures, but these are almost always faulty, as seen in sentences like 'This letter find you well,i just wanted to let you know that i am organising an event for ten year completed to letf collage.' There is a persistent lack of control over basic verb forms, tense consistency, subject-verb agreement, and punctuation. Run-on sentences and comma splices dominate the writing. Errors are very frequent and consistently cause difficulty for the reader, placing the grammar score solidly at Band 4.0.
