Dear ....................................,
Student answer (Band 6.5)
Dear Alif,
I hope you are doing great. I am writing this letter to discuss about reunion of all classfellows and closed friends. I am thinking to organise a function so that we all can meetup because its been 10 years , we have been completed our studies.
As per my perspective , it would be great to arrange function at my farm house as it is vacant and we all can enjoy there . I will manage the buffet system so nobody needs to worry about cooking . It will save our time and energy. We will arrange the music system as well so everybody enjoys dance floor.
To celebrate our anniversary in this way will be most effective and budget- friendly also. And the most important thing is that all of us can spend our quality time at our personal space in more comfortable way without renting out the space anywhere else.
I need your help for this event because i am not very active on social media as you are. So if you are in contacts with all our college buddies then please contact to all of them so it will be easier for me too arrange things. You can create a group on facebook or whatsapp so that we can fix the day and timing.
I hope you are also interested in this get-together and revert me as soon as possible.
yours lovingly,
Manjit Kaur

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0
The student covers all parts of the task well. The letter successfully proposes a specific kind of celebration event, which is a reunion party at a farmhouse. It provides clear reasons why this celebration format is beneficial, such as being budget-friendly, saving time, and offering a comfortable personal space without renting a venue. Furthermore, the letter clearly describes the help needed from the friend, specifically requesting assistance with contacting other college buddies and creating a social media group. The tone is appropriately informal and friendly throughout, matching the requirements of General Training Task 1. All bullet points are fully and effectively addressed, demonstrating a clear understanding of the prompt requirements.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.5
The letter exhibits a clear logical organisation and progression throughout. Ideas are grouped sensibly into paragraphs, moving naturally from the opening and the main proposal to the reasons for the choice, the specific request for help, and a polite sign-off. Cohesive devices such as 'As per my perspective', 'It will save', and 'And the most important thing is that' are used to link ideas, although some transitions feel slightly mechanical or repetitive in structure. Paragraphing is used sufficiently and appropriately, with each paragraph having a distinct focus. The referencing pronouns like 'it' and 'we' are generally clear, contributing to the overall readability and coherent flow of the letter.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
The student demonstrates an adequate range of vocabulary suitable for an informal letter. Phrases such as 'budget-friendly', 'quality time', and 'buffet system' convey meaning effectively. However, there are some minor lexical inaccuracies and awkward collocations, such as 'discuss about reunion' (should be 'discuss a reunion' or 'talk about a reunion'), 'classfellows' (which is less common than 'classmates'), and 'revert me' (a common regional variation, but standard English prefers 'get back to me' or 'reply to me'). Despite these minor flaws, the vocabulary is sufficient to communicate the intended message clearly and maintains an appropriate friendly tone throughout.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
The student uses a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating control over basic structures and attempting some more complex sentences, such as 'I am thinking to organise a function so that we all can meetup because its been 10 years , we have been completed our studies.' There are several grammatical errors and punctuation slips present, including 'meetup' used as a verb, missing apostrophes in 'its been', tense errors like 'we have been completed', and incorrect comma placement. However, these errors do not impede communication, and the meaning remains clear throughout the letter. The majority of simple sentences are accurate, but greater control over complex verb tenses and punctuation is needed for a higher band.
