Student answer (Band 6.0)
Dear Sunil,
I hope you are doing well. I am writing this letter to let you know about an event I have planned on the occasion of the tenth anniversary of our college farewell. Hotel has been reserved and most of the arrangements have been made by me and my cousin. I have ordered some of the most famous dishes of the town and drinks also and called up the an expert cameramen as I want to capture all of us after such a long time. Music arrangements have also made by my cousin who is helping me throughout. It will be such a special occasion and deserve to be celebrate in an unforgettable manner like we all used to manifest during the college.
But I also want to let you know that I have not invited anyone yet. I have left this duty for you as you were class topper and still in touch with most of our friends and classmates. Hopefully you get it done by this Wednesday. Can not wait to see you.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You successfully cover all parts of the prompt by explaining the kind of celebration event, describing why it is a good idea, and detailing the help needed from your friend. For instance, you mention that a hotel has been reserved, local dishes ordered, and a cameraman called to capture the anniversary. However, some ideas are more fully developed than others. While the explanation of the event and the request for help regarding invitations are clear, the reasoning behind why this celebration style is ideal is somewhat brief, relying on general statements rather than deeper elaboration. Overall, the communication of purpose is clear and appropriate for a general correspondence task.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
Your letter shows a coherent overall arrangement with a logical flow from the announcement of the event to the request for assistance. You use standard informal greeting and sign-off conventions, and the progression of ideas is easy to follow. However, cohesion is at times a bit mechanical, and referencing can feel abrupt, as seen in the transition from discussing music arrangements to the broader significance of the event. Paragraphing is generally functional, dividing the main details from the call to action, though smoother cohesive ties between sentences would elevate the structure.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting some less common phrases such as "tenth anniversary" and "unforgettable manner." However, there are noticeable word-choice and collocation inaccuracies that prevent a higher score, such as writing "an expert cameramen" instead of "an expert cameraman," and stating that the occasion "deserve to be celebrate" rather than "deserves to be celebrated." Spelling and word form slips are present, but they do not impede overall communication and remain within acceptable limits for an adequate lexical performance.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You make use of a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, incorporating relative clauses and compound structures successfully, such as in "I am writing this letter to let you know about an event I have planned." At the same time, there are several errors in grammar and punctuation, including missing articles ("Hotel has been reserved" instead of "A hotel") and passive voice issues, such as "Music arrangements have also made" instead of "have also been made." While these errors persist, they are not frequent enough to impede communication, allowing your message to be understood clearly.
