Dear ....................................,
Student answer (Band 5.0)
Dear Friends,
"Sup, mates? It's been ages since last we connected, and I've been wondering what shenanigans you've been up to lately. Life has some crazy curveballs my way, and I'm sure you've got your fair share of stories too. Let's schedule a virtual hangout and swap tales of triumph, failure, and everthing in between." I would be suggest to organize the party at my home with lots of activities, games and so on.
According to me, by doing this, it would great opportunity to spend quality of time with each other. If we go any nearby restaurant, then it would be totally wastage of time. Additionally, I recently bought a new house. By this way, you all will be see my house.
I need three-four people for prepartion of the party like bring the things for games, decoration and some grocery from the supermarket as I'm cooking food by myself for all of you. Apart from this, two persons for decoration because I don't have enough ideas about it.
Yours sincerely,

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
The response addresses the prompt only partially. While all bullet points are touched upon, the development of ideas remains limited and under-developed. For instance, the celebration type is mentioned as a party at home, but the explanation of why it is good relies heavily on a weak comparison about restaurants rather than exploring the social benefits of an anniversary. Furthermore, the description of help needed mentions food preparation and decoration, but lacks sufficient detail to fully satisfy the requirements of the task. To move to a higher band, the writer needs to expand on their ideas and provide clearer, more thoroughly extended explanations for each bullet point.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
There is some organisation in the letter, but it lacks a clear overall progression. The inclusion of an abrupt quote block at the beginning disrupts the flow of the letter, and the transition between paragraphs feels somewhat disjointed. Cohesive devices are used, but they tend to be basic or repetitive, such as 'Additionally' and 'Apart from this', and referencing is occasionally unclear. Paragraphing is attempted, but grouping ideas more logically would improve the structure. To achieve a higher band, the writer should ensure smoother transitions between ideas and a more natural logical flow throughout the entire response.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The vocabulary range is limited and minimally adequate for the task. The writer attempts some less common vocabulary and informal phrases like 'shenanigans' and 'curveballs', but there are noticeable errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'I would be suggest to organize' and 'wastage of time'. Spelling is generally acceptable, but phrasing is sometimes unnatural. To reach a higher level, the writer needs to use a wider and more precise range of vocabulary, ensuring that word choices and collocations are accurate and appropriate for the context of the letter.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The response shows a limited range of grammatical structures. While there are some attempts at complex sentences, they are often faulty, as seen in errors like 'I would be suggest to organize' and 'you all will be see my house'. There are frequent errors in verb forms, prepositions, and sentence structures that can cause some difficulty for the reader. To improve, the writer must demonstrate better control over basic and complex grammatical structures, reduce the frequency of errors, and ensure accurate verb tense usage and subject-verb agreement.
