Dear Mali,

How are you doing..\? It's been long time we haven't met. Hope you are having good time with your family.

Actually I'm writing to talk about our meet up with all our school friends as we had not any place or occation to meet easch other.Let's organize a get together party which will be convenience for everyone to attend.

It would be good to celebrate our company with all in this way as we will get chance to reconnect with each other who had lost the contact and also it will refresh our friendship further more.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.5

The response only partially addresses the requirements of the task. Crucially, the length requirement is not met, as the response contains only ninety-eight words, falling well short of the one hundred and fifty-word minimum. Regarding the bullet points, the writer mentions a get-together party and offers a brief reason for celebrating in this way, such as reconnecting with friends. However, the third bullet point regarding what help is needed to organise the event is completely omitted. Ideas are limited and under-developed, and the tone is somewhat inconsistent for a formal general letter. To reach a higher band, the writer must ensure all bullet points are fully covered with well-developed ideas and meet the minimum word length.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

There is some basic organisation in the letter, starting with a standard greeting and moving into the purpose of writing. However, there is no clear overall progression across the paragraphs, and formatting lacks proper spacing. Cohesive devices are inadequate or inaccurate, seen in abrupt transitions like 'Actually I'm writing' and the lack of proper linking between sentences. Paragraphing is also poorly managed, with the body of the letter clumped together rather than separated into logical sections for each point. To improve, the writer needs to use a wider and more accurate range of cohesive devices and structure the letter into clear paragraphs with a logical flow.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is limited but minimally adequate to convey a basic message. There are noticeable lexical errors and issues with word choice, such as 'meet up', 'occation', 'easch', and 'convenience' instead of convenient. Expressions like 'refresh our friendship further more' are unnatural and lack precision. These errors cause some difficulty for the reader in places. To achieve a higher band, the writer must demonstrate a broader range of vocabulary, use less common items with greater awareness of collocation, and eliminate spelling and word-form errors that detract from the quality of the writing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The writer demonstrates a very limited range of sentence structures, relying mostly on simple sentences with frequent attempts at complex structures that are faulty. There are noticeable errors in grammar and punctuation throughout, including punctuation marks placed incorrectly together like '\?\', missing articles in phrases like 'having good time', and incorrect verb forms such as 'we had not any place'. These frequent errors cause difficulty for the reader and reflect a weak control of basic grammatical patterns and punctuation. To improve, the writer needs to increase the variety of complex structures and reduce basic agreement, article, and verb tense errors.
