Student answer (Band 5.5)
Hey brijal,
How are you doing. it's been a while we have not met eachother in-person. Anyways, I am writing this letter to invite you for the event. I named it as reunion event 2016 batch anniversary.
Moreover, I am planning to organise an event to reunite our batch after 10 years. the good part of that day is it is also my marriage anniversary. I want to celebrate this day with all of my friends and the college mates. I think it is going to be epic day for every one of us because there will be two celebration one is my anniversary and another is our college farewell aniversary.
I am planning to do it in college town. as you know I was from the same town of our college. Ahmedabad will be the best place to celebrate. all of us will be able to have a tour of the college on that day before party night. I am so excited to refresh those days that we spent together for four years.
However, I have changed my phone recently. so, I do not have access of each of our contacts now. very few of them I could contact. Will you be able to help me to invite every person of our group. I have sent you the invitation card.
I hope we willl be able to meet before we organise this event together. I know you are now excited. Hope to see you soon.
Your bestie,
Sonali

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
The response successfully addresses all parts of the prompt, covering the kind of celebration event, the reasons for celebrating in this way, and the help needed with organizing. However, some aspects are more fully developed than others. For instance, mentioning that the college reunion coincides with a personal marriage anniversary is an interesting angle, but the explanation of why a reunion in Ahmedabad is ideal is somewhat brief. The tone is appropriately informal for a letter to a friend, maintaining a clear purpose throughout.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The letter presents a coherent overall arrangement with clear paragraphing, each addressing a distinct point from the prompt. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'Moreover', 'However', and 'as you know', though referencing and transitions can occasionally feel slightly mechanical or repetitive. While the overall logical progression is maintained, tighter linking between sentences would elevate the flow. For example, the transition from discussing the venue in Ahmedabad to the missing contact numbers in the next paragraph could be smoother.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, successfully communicating the writer's message. There are attempts to use less common items and informal phrases suitable for a letter to a friend, such as 'epic day' and 'bestie'. However, there are noticeable limitations and inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'farewell aniversary' instead of 'anniversary', and lowercase capitalization for names like 'brijal'. Spelling and word-form errors occur, but they do not impede communication.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
The writer uses a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating some control over sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors in punctuation, sentence boundary control, and capitalization, such as starting sentences with lowercase letters ('the good part', 'as you know', 'so, I do not') and sentence fragments like 'it's been a while we have not met eachother in-person.' Despite these errors, they rarely impede communication, and the overall meaning remains clear to the reader.
