Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.0
The response only partially addresses the task requirements. While it mentions the kind of celebration event as a house party in November and touches on the help needed with organizing, it suffers from a significant length penalty because it falls well short of the mandatory minimum word count of 150 words, stopping at just 102 words. Furthermore, the ideas are presented in a very limited and repetitive manner with minimal development. To reach a higher band, the writer must ensure that the word count requirement is fully met and provide a much more thorough, well-developed explanation of the event details, reasons for choosing it, and specific requests for assistance.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0
The response displays basic organizational problems. Information and ideas are not arranged cohesively, and the lack of proper paragraphing disrupts the overall progression of the letter. The sentences are disjointed, and the text ends abruptly with fragmented and incomplete phrases such as 'get intoched again trige'. There is a lack of effective cohesive devices to guide the reader smoothly through the text. To improve under this criterion, the writer needs to structure the letter into clear, logical paragraphs and use appropriate linking words to connect ideas and events cohesively.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
The lexical resource is limited and basic, resulting in frequent errors that strain the reader. The student relies on simple vocabulary and makes numerous spelling and word-choice errors, such as writing 're-union', 'passout anniversary', 'sucessfull', 'carrier', and 'intoched'. Phrases are often unnatural or imprecise. To progress to a higher band, the writer must expand their vocabulary range, use correct word forms and collocations, and eliminate basic spelling mistakes to ensure smoother communication.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
The response features a very limited range of grammatical structures, consisting mainly of simple sentences with frequent and disruptive errors. There are notable issues with verb tenses, subject-verb agreement, and missing auxiliary verbs, such as 'I hope you and your family doing well', 'Its been long time', and 'Their are also some drinks'. Punctuation is also problematic throughout. To achieve a higher score, the writer needs to demonstrate control over a wider variety of grammatical structures and significantly reduce basic grammatical errors.
