Student answer (Band 6.0)
Dear Devang,
Hoping this letter finds you radiant health and spirit. Can you believe that it has already been ten years since we left college? I think this is the perfect time for us to get together and celebrate the special anniversary with all our old friends and classmate.
I would like to organize a college reunion dinner at a nice restaurant in our city. We could arrange some music, take photographs and cutting a cake as part of celebration. Although we could also put the projector for slideshow of old college memories.
However, People get the opportunity to meet their old friends and classmate and remember our student days and find out what everyone has been doing over the past ten years.
I would really appreciate your help with organizing the event. Could you contact some of our classmates and find out who would be interested in attending? I would also be helpful if you could collect their collect details and check their availability.
please let me know if you have any other idea for making this event memorable. I am looking forward to seeing everyone again after such a long time.
Yours lovely,
Krupa.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
You successfully covered all parts of the letter prompt, which is a strong feature of this response, earning you credit toward a higher score. You clearly stated the kind of celebration event you would like to organize, which is a college reunion dinner at a nice restaurant. You also explained why it would be good to celebrate in this way, noting that it allows people to meet old friends, remember student days, and catch up on the past ten years. Furthermore, you described the help you need by asking Devang to contact classmates, collect contact details, and check availability. However, your ideas are slightly uneven in their level of development, which places your response firmly at this score. While the third bullet point and the event details are covered clearly, the explanation of the event could be expanded with more vivid descriptions or specific activities, showing glimpses of higher performance while maintaining the limitations of this band level.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
Your letter shows a coherent overall arrangement and a logical progression of ideas from the opening greeting through the event details and requests for help, to the closing remarks. You used appropriate paragraphing to separate your main points, such as placing the description of the event, the purpose of the celebration, and the request for assistance into distinct sections. However, your cohesion is sometimes mechanical or faulty. For instance, starting a sentence with 'However,' does not logically fit the transition from the previous paragraph about the slideshow, as it does not signal a contrast. Additionally, referencing is occasionally unclear, such as the dangling connector 'I would also be helpful' instead of 'It would also be helpful'. To reach a higher score, you need to ensure that cohesive devices are used more naturally and that transitions between sentences and paragraphs connect your ideas more seamlessly.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You demonstrated an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting some less common lexical items such as 'radiant health and spirit', 'anniversary', and 'availability'. Your vocabulary choice is generally sufficient to convey your meaning clearly to the reader. However, there are some noticeable inaccuracies in word choice and collocation that keep your score at this level. For example, the phrase 'take photographs and cutting a cake' lacks parallel structure (it should be 'cutting a cake'), and you wrote 'radiant health and spirit' instead of 'radiant health and spirits'. There is also a slight lexical slip in 'collect details' instead of 'contact details'. Your spelling is generally accurate, but these occasional word-choice and form errors prevent you from achieving a higher band. To improve, focus on mastering natural collocations and ensuring correct word forms in your sentences.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
You attempted a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, incorporating relative clauses and conditional structures into your writing. You demonstrated good control over basic tense forms, successfully using the present perfect tense in 'it has already been ten years' and the modal verb structure in 'I would like to organize'. However, your writing contains several grammar errors in punctuation, prepositions, and article usage. For instance, you wrote 'finds you radiant health' missing the preposition 'in', and you made an error in subject-verb agreement with 'People get... and remember... and find out' combined with the awkward pluralisation in 'old friends and classmate'. There is also a punctuation error in the closing phrase 'Yours lovely,' instead of 'Yours lovingly,' or 'Yours faithfully,'. These errors rarely impede communication, but they are frequent enough to prevent you from reaching a higher band. Working on article consistency and prepositional phrases within grammatical patterns will help you improve.
