• describe what help you need to organise this event

Dear ....................................,
Student answer (Band 6.0)
Dear Sally,
How are you? I hope you are fine. I'm writing this letter to invite you to my anniversary. As you know the coming month 05 November 2026 will be my 10th year anniversary. So, I'm planning to celebrate it with my old classmates from the college at the Park avenue resort, Markam.
I'm decided to invite our gang for the dinner. Unfortunately, I don't have the contact details of everyone, while you are active in our college groups and social media. I hope it will be easy for you to collect all the contact details of our classmates.
I guess dinner will be the perfect option because after that we all can spend some time together and play some games after food. Moreover, this resort offers private pool and variety of drinks if be book parties 2 weeks ahead.
I'm also confused with the menu. So, I need your help to finalise it. Reply to me before 24th of this month. Therefore, we can plan everything without any rush.
With love,
Tania

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
You address all three requested points and maintain an appropriate friendly tone. You propose a dinner at Park Avenue Resort, explain that classmates can spend time together and play games, and ask Sally to gather contact details and help finalise the menu. These details make the purpose clear. The explanation of why this format would be enjoyable is relevant, but it is less developed than the practical requests: for example, you could explain why meeting at a resort suits a reunion or how the pool and drinks would add to the occasion. The date and anniversary wording are also somewhat unclear, since it is not explicit whether this is a college reunion or your personal anniversary. More precise framing and fuller support for the event choice would strengthen the response.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The letter has a clear overall sequence: you introduce the anniversary, describe the proposed dinner, explain its appeal, and finish with requests and a reply deadline. Paragraphing helps separate these stages, and the reader can follow the main message. However, some links feel mechanical or unclear. For instance, “So” and “Moreover” connect ideas, but the move from playing games to the resort’s pool and drinks could be smoother. “Therefore” before the final planning sentence is also not the most natural link. The sentence about collecting contact details and the later request to finalise the menu could be grouped or signposted more clearly as separate tasks. Use a few precise transitions and clearer references to make the progression feel more natural.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
Your vocabulary is adequate for a friendly invitation, and phrases such as “contact details,” “classmates,” and “finalise” communicate the practical arrangements. You also attempt more specific language about the venue and activities. However, several choices or combinations are inaccurate or unnatural, including “my anniversary” for a college reunion, “I'm decided,” and “if be book parties.” “Variety of drinks” is understandable but could be expressed more naturally in this context. These issues do not prevent the reader from understanding your main ideas, but they limit precision and flexibility. Aim to learn common collocations for organising events and check that each phrase expresses the intended meaning, especially when describing the anniversary and booking arrangements.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple sentences and longer structures, including the reason clause in “because after that we all can spend some time together” and the sentence beginning “Unfortunately.” The message remains understandable, but some grammatical errors persist. For example, “I'm decided” has an incorrect verb form, and “if be book parties 2 weeks ahead” is not a complete, correctly formed conditional clause. There are also punctuation and spacing issues, such as the missing space after “food.” and the comma splice in “As you know the coming month 05 November 2026 will be my 10th year anniversary.” Use a clearer sentence structure for the date and practise forming conditionals and verb phrases accurately.
