Student answer (Band 5.5)

Hii Jashan , I hope you are doing well. First of all, I always missed you so much when I rememberd our college days it's almost 10 years since we left college.

Although, I want to celebrate the anniversary of 10 years with all our friends and classmates from college. As, we all know, due to covid our college was not able to gave farewell at that time , So; it's a great time to meet and celebrate our long time years together. It's a kind of dj party which includes dancing competition , floor dancing , games , different fun activities .

However,It could be best to celebrate this way because nobody can bored , and everyone enjoy their choice of activity. Now, everyone has stressed or busy on their own life. This way everyone get engaged with each other and reconnect.

Lastly,I need your help, you know as it's too long time; I don't have all numbers and connections. Can you please helped me to find the classmates who are not connected with me.Although, some changed their numbers also. Please try to connect with instagram and facebook. Even, you make a official notice in college famous old groups because I want everyone to come and enjoy. We all enjoy and fun together.

Yours sincerely,

Simran

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

You address all three required points: you propose a DJ party with dancing, games and activities, explain that it would help classmates reconnect after the disruption caused by COVID, and ask Jashan to find classmates through social media and college groups. The purpose and friendly relationship are clear. The explanation of why this format would suit everyone is relevant, but claims such as “nobody can bored” and “everyone enjoy their choice” are not fully explained; one or two specific benefits or examples would develop this point. Your request for help is more detailed, including classmates who have changed numbers, which strengthens the response. To develop the ideas further, clarify practical details such as when or where the event might take place and what specific organising tasks Jashan could take on.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The letter has a recognisable progression: you recall college, introduce the celebration, explain its appeal, and then make a request. Paragraphing helps separate these main stages, and the closing is appropriate. However, some linking expressions are used mechanically or do not show the intended relationship. For example, “Although” begins a sentence that is not a contrast, while “However” introduces a supporting reason. The repeated “Although” and “Lastly” also make the connections feel formulaic. Some sentences run together, particularly the description of the party and the request about social media, which makes the sequence harder to follow. Use fewer, more accurate transitions and separate each main idea into clear sentences to make the overall progression smoother.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including “anniversary,” “farewell,” “dancing competition,” “activities,” and “reconnect.” The range is nevertheless limited, and several noticeable word-choice or collocation problems make parts of the letter awkward or unclear. For instance, “long time years together” does not express the intended idea naturally, and “nobody can bored” and “official notice in college famous old groups” are difficult to interpret as written. Spelling errors such as “rememberd” also reduce accuracy. Aim to learn common phrases as complete units, such as “get together after ten years” and “post an announcement in our old college groups,” and check spelling before submitting.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including a reason clause beginning “because” and a sentence explaining that the college could not hold a farewell. However, control is uneven, and errors in verb forms, agreement, articles and sentence construction sometimes make the reader pause. Examples include “I always missed you” where the intended meaning calls for a different tense, “was not able to gave,” “everyone enjoy,” and “Can you please helped me.” Several clauses are joined with commas or punctuation in ways that obscure their boundaries. Practise forming requests with “Could you please help me…?” and checking subject–verb agreement and verb forms after auxiliaries. More accurate sentence boundaries would also make your ideas easier to understand.
