Dear ....................................,

Student answer (Band 6.0)

Dear classmates,

I'm really excited to share an idea to meet up and celebrate our ten years anniversary being left from a college.

I'd like to book a seminar hall in my neighborhood because it's convenient for everybody to get here. I have a plan to organize this event for a two days in weekend with available night stay at my home. We will have a party with drinks and dinner from a famous chef of Maharaja resturant. Additonally, one my known friend will perform comedy show in hall.

It's best idea to enjoy this way as we haven't meet since ten years and will get a chance to share our journeys of this years and brings emotions of college days. Those day guys, I really missed as we always have fun together and spent quality of a time.

Although I can manage booking, I might need some help in prepration becuase hall is too wide. Additionally, I need someone who can bring some pieces of cutouts for decoration and one of you can help in setup including lightings, music, and selection on dinner menus.

I hope you all likes my idea and consider to join in this event.

Yours Faithfully,

Dharmik

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You address all three points: you propose a two-day gathering with dinner and entertainment, explain that classmates can reconnect and reminisce, and ask for help with decorations, lighting, music, and menu selection. The purpose is clear and the ideas are relevant. Some parts, however, are less fully developed than others. For example, you explain the emotional value of meeting again, but the reason for choosing a seminar hall and an overnight stay is only briefly stated; “convenient for everybody” could be supported with more detail. The request for help is specific, though it would be clearer to assign particular tasks to your friend. A more direct greeting to one college friend and a warmer, more personal closing would also suit the letter’s audience.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The letter has a clear overall arrangement: you introduce the reunion, describe the proposed event, explain its value, and then outline the help needed. Paragraphing supports this progression, and linking expressions such as “Additionally” and “Although” help connect ideas. This coherent structure is a strength. At times, however, connections are mechanical or references are unclear. For instance, “one of you” shifts from addressing a single friend to a group, while “Those day guys” makes the reference to college memories difficult to follow. The event details would also flow more naturally if the two-day schedule, dinner, and comedy performance were presented in a clearer sequence. Use consistent direct address and clearer links between each activity and its purpose.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use a relevant range of vocabulary for planning a reunion, including “seminar hall,” “celebrate,” “decoration,” “setup,” and “selection on dinner menus.” These choices make the main ideas understandable, and you attempt some more specific expressions such as “share our journeys” and “quality of a time.” However, several word choices, collocations, and spelling errors reduce naturalness: “ten years anniversary,” “available night stay,” “famous chef,” and “cutouts” do not express the intended meanings precisely. There are also misspellings such as “resturant,” “Additonally,” and “prepration.” Aim for accurate, natural combinations rather than adding elaborate wording; for example, describe a “two-day reunion” and “overnight accommodation.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a reason clause with “because,” a time clause with “as,” and a contrast introduced by “Although.” The message remains understandable, but some grammatical errors occur in verb forms, agreement, articles, and sentence construction. Examples include “we haven't meet,” “we will get a chance … and brings emotions,” “I really missed,” and “I hope you all likes.” The opening phrase “ten years anniversary being left from a college” is also difficult to interpret grammatically. Review past and present verb forms, subject–verb agreement, and article use, then check that each sentence has a clear subject and verb. More accurate control of these patterns would make your varied sentence attempts easier to read.
