Student answer (Band 6.0)

Dear Rishu,

It's been a decade of passing our college. I always thought if I could organise a party or any trip in which we all get together. Therefore, after thinking alot about this, I got an idea to organise a grand reunion party. It going to be a dinner party after having meal we all will enjoy doing dance. The whole celebation would be organised by me and I am going to pay money for all the things. I will book a banquet hall on the rooftop of the restaurant.

This would be a golden chance for reconnect and catch after ten years. We all will cherish our memories and celebrate our achievements we got after our college. I miss our classmates so much as everyone is catch up in work and some of our classmates had sattled abroad, hence our reconnect will strengthen our bond.

I would feel grateful if you could give me a hand in track down or batchmates and finalize the guest list. In addition to this, the venue would be shortlisted by me and I would also look for the menu.

It would be an amazing reunion celebration, let me know what you think.

Yours lovingly,

Reet

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

The letter addresses all three required points: you propose a rooftop dinner-and-dance reunion, explain that it would help classmates reconnect and share memories, and ask Rishu to help locate former classmates and finalise the guest list. The purpose and friendly tone are clear. The explanation of why this format is suitable is relevant, but could be developed further—for example, explain why a dinner party would work especially well for classmates who have not met for years. The request for help is also somewhat narrow, while the rest of the organisation is presented as already decided. More detail about the practical help you need would make the response more fully developed.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The letter has a clear overall arrangement: the opening introduces the reunion plan, the next paragraph explains its value, and the final paragraphs make a request and close appropriately. This progression helps the reader follow your purpose. You also use linking expressions such as “Therefore,” “In addition to this,” and “hence.” However, some connections feel mechanical or unclear, and the first paragraph combines the event format with payment and venue details before the reason for celebrating is explained. The phrase “track down or batchmates” also interrupts the flow because the intended relationship between the words is unclear. Grouping the event details together and using more precise links between ideas would make the organisation smoother.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use relevant vocabulary for a reunion, including “reconnect,” “cherish our memories,” “achievements,” and “strengthen our bond,” which helps convey a warm, personal tone. There are also attempts at more expressive language, such as “golden chance.” However, several noticeable word-choice, collocation, and spelling errors reduce naturalness: “a decade of passing our college,” “catch after ten years,” “track down or batchmates,” “sattled,” and “celebation.” Some phrases are difficult to interpret, particularly “everyone is catch up in work.” Aim for accurate, natural combinations such as “ten years since we graduated,” “catch up after ten years,” and “busy with work.” Proofreading spelling and checking collocations would make your vocabulary more effective.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt a mix of simple and longer sentence forms, including clauses introduced by “if,” “after,” and “as,” and the main message remains understandable. Some sentences are also controlled, such as “I miss our classmates so much.” However, errors in verb forms, sentence construction, and articles occur in several places. For example, “It going to be a dinner party” needs a finite verb, while “after having meal we all will enjoy doing dance” has problems with article use and clause structure. “This would be a golden chance for reconnect” also needs a grammatical form after “for.” Review verb patterns, articles, and sentence boundaries, then proofread longer sentences to improve accuracy while retaining your attempts at complex structures.
