Student answer (Band 5.5)
Dear Jeetu,
How are you? I hope you will be well. Since it has been ten years of leaving college, but i really miss those days. I want to organise an event to celebrate this anniversary with our all friends and classmates from college. We can celebrate it by doing many intresting activities which creates fresh memories of past college days. Moreover, we can organise quizs and compulsory speech for every one of two minutes about college life and also we can invite our teachers if everyone agree. Nowadays, everyone is busy in their life, but this can help them get a break and remember their happy college life moments. From my point of view this would be a great way to celebrate. I need your help in contacting all of them because i have only in touch with few, so you have to arrange contacts and invite them all to the place, which we have to decide after meeting. So, please contact me whenever my message reach to you.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
The letter addresses all three required points: you propose activities, explain that they could help classmates reconnect with college memories, and ask Jeetu to contact and invite people. The ideas are relevant, but the celebration plan and the reason for choosing it are only partly developed. For example, “many interesting activities” is broad, and the quiz and short speeches are not explained in much detail. The request for help is clearer, although the venue is still undecided and the practical arrangements are not specified. To strengthen the response, give a more definite picture of the event and explain how the activities would make the reunion enjoyable for everyone. The friendly opening and closing suit a letter to a college friend.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The ideas are generally relevant and can be followed in the order of the task: you introduce the anniversary, suggest activities, give a reason, and ask for help. However, the response is presented as one long paragraph, so the different purposes of the letter are not clearly separated. Some links also feel mechanical or unclear, such as “Moreover” and “From my point of view,” while “but” in the opening sentence does not create a clear contrast. The final request combines contacting classmates, choosing a venue, and arranging a meeting in one extended sentence. Use separate paragraphs for the event, its benefits, and Jeetu’s role, and connect ideas with simpler, more precise transitions.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use enough vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including “celebrate this anniversary,” “fresh memories,” “quiz,” and “college life.” There are also attempts to express the purpose of the event, such as helping friends “get a break.” However, several word choices and collocations are inaccurate or unnatural, which limits precision: “compulsory speech,” “our all friends,” and “I have only in touch with few” may make the reader pause. Spelling errors such as “intresting” and “quizs” are noticeable. Aim for natural phrases suited to an informal reunion letter, and check spelling and word forms. More precise vocabulary for the activities and arrangements would make the proposal clearer.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
The letter includes both simple statements and attempts at longer sentences, for example the sentence beginning “Nowadays, everyone is busy…” and the request beginning “I need your help…”. These attempts show some range, but control is uneven. The opening has an incomplete or awkward time construction (“Since it has been ten years of leaving college”), and the sentence about activities has a subject–verb agreement problem (“activities which creates”). Other issues include “if everyone agree,” “I have only in touch,” and the closing phrase “whenever my message reach to you.” These errors sometimes make the intended meaning less clear. Practise accurate verb forms, agreement, and sentence boundaries, then reread each sentence to check that its subject and verb match.
