Student answer (Band 6.0)
Dear Rani,
I hope you are doing great. It's been a long time since we all classmates met together. If you remember, it has been a decade since we moved out of college. So, I was thinking of organizing a party to celebrate this anniversary with all of our friends and classmates from college.
Lets make this event more memorable by organizing it in the most popular banquet hall in our town. Lets put the theme of our party as vintage style where we will also hang some photos of our college days which will refresh our memories together. Thefood served will be Italian cuisine as how much i remembered most of our classmates like Italian food.
By organizing it in this way , all of our friends will get sometime out of their busy schedules to enjoy themselves and reconnect with each other and create great memories.
I would need some help from you to organise this event especially to send invitations to all our fellow classmates as you are in touch with mo

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You address all three points: you propose a vintage-themed party at a banquet hall, explain that it would help classmates reconnect and make memories, and ask Rani to help send invitations. The specific details about college photographs and Italian food make the plan relevant and personal. However, the reason for choosing this format is only briefly explained, and the request for help is cut off at “as you are in touch with mo…”, so the reader does not learn what further assistance you expect. Develop the rationale and complete the request—for example, specify whether Rani can contact classmates and help confirm attendance. A clear closing would also make the letter feel complete.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The ideas follow a sensible order: you introduce the reunion, describe the proposed celebration, explain its social benefit, and then ask for help. Paragraph breaks also separate the main stages of the letter, and links such as “So” and “By organizing it in this way” help show relationships between ideas. This gives the response a coherent overall arrangement. To make the progression more polished, avoid relying on similar transitions and connect the event details more smoothly to the reason for choosing them. The final sentence ends abruptly, which weakens the sense of completion; finish the request and add a brief sign-off. Clearer referencing in “this anniversary” would also help identify the college reunion immediately.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use an adequate range for a friendly invitation, including relevant expressions such as “vintage style,” “banquet hall,” “refresh our memories,” and “reconnect with each other.” These details communicate the event clearly, and the tone is generally appropriate for writing to a friend. Some word choices and collocations are less natural, however: “moved out of college” is not the usual way to describe graduating, and “put the theme of our party as” is awkward. “Thefood” and “sometime” also need attention as spelling or word-form choices. Aim for more precise, natural phrases such as “graduated from college,” “choose a vintage theme,” and “spend some time together.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You use both simple sentences and more developed structures, including “If you remember…” and the clause beginning “as you are in touch…”. Most of the message remains understandable, but some grammatical errors and punctuation problems are noticeable. For example, “It's been a long time since we all classmates met together” is missing a verb after “we,” while “as how much i remembered” has an incorrect clause structure. The sentence beginning “The food served will be Italian cuisine” also needs a clearer grammatical construction, and “Lets” should be written “Let’s.” Capitalise “I” consistently and check spacing around commas. Revising these patterns would improve accuracy while preserving your friendly tone.
