Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You address the main purpose by proposing a Diwali celebration, inviting Ashish, and asking for help with decoration and meal preparation. However, the event plan is not fully clear: it is uncertain whether Diwali itself is the anniversary celebration or simply the occasion for a reunion. Your reasons are also limited; saying Ashish is interested in traditional events does not explain clearly why this format would suit the whole class. The request for help is relevant but brief, with no practical details about what Ashish should do. The response is 24 words below the required minimum, which leaves little room to develop these points. Clarify the event, explain its appeal to classmates, and specify the help you need.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The letter follows a broadly sensible order: greeting and context, the proposed celebration, a reason for inviting Ashish, and a request for help. This gives the reader a basic sense of the message. However, most of the content is compressed into one long paragraph, and the progression between ideas is sometimes abrupt. For example, “I am writing this letter to you its been ten year…” joins the purpose and background without a clear link, while “lastly, by the way” combines transitions that do not fit together. Use separate paragraphs for the event plan, your reasons, and the request, and connect each point with simple, accurate linking phrases.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use enough basic vocabulary to communicate the central ideas, including “celebrate,” “classmates,” “traditional events,” “decoration,” and “meal preparation.” The main message is generally understandable, but the range is limited and several word choices or collocations sound unnatural, such as “with full of happiness,” “very keen interested,” and “organise to celebrate the main event Diwali.” Spelling and capitalisation also need attention in “diwali” and “prepration.” These errors sometimes make the intended meaning less clear. Build a more precise range for describing a reunion and its arrangements, and check common word combinations and spelling before finishing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The letter attempts to combine ideas in longer sentences, but these structures are often faulty, and many sentences contain errors that can make the reader pause. For instance, “I am writing this letter to you its been ten year our college was finished” lacks clear clause boundaries and has problems with tense and number. “If you will come” is not the usual conditional form, and “I need your help with decoration and in meal preparation” has an inconsistent grammatical pattern. There is also a sentence fragment beginning “And, enjoying your weekend…”. Practise separating ideas into complete sentences, using past and present tenses consistently, and checking articles, plurals, and punctuation.
